Ex-MIC chief predicts BN victory in GE15
[Image: S-Subramaniam-fmt-040520-7.jpg]

PETALING JAYA: Former MIC chief Dr S Subramaniam predicts that a coalition led by Barisan Nasional will form the government after the Nov 19 general election (GE15) although the opposition will do well in urban areas.

The former health minister said this was not due to a transformation in BN but to disarray in the opposition.

He told FMT the split in Malay votes among BN, Perikatan Nasional (PN) and Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) was likely to mainly affect Pakatan Harapan (PH). He said PH would lose much of the votes it obtained in the 2018 general election, particularly in urban and suburban areas.

Anwar’s ex-aide to contest Petaling Jaya seat for PRM
[Image: Ezam-Mohd-Nor-bernama-041122-2.jpg]

PETALING JAYA: Ezam Mohd Nor, a former political secretary to PKR president Anwar Ibrahim, will be fielded by Parti Rakyat Malaysia (PRM) for the Petaling Jaya parliamentary seat in the 15th general election (GE15).

The former PKR leader will be among nine candidates to be fielded by PRM in Selangor during the Nov 19 polls, reported Bernama.

Ezam previously announced his intention to contest the Langkawi parliamentary seat formerly held by Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

However, he decided against this after Pakatan Harapan (PH) named a candidate from Amanah, stating that a “face-off against PH’s candidate will only benefit Mahathir”.

Pakatan’s betting on wrong horse in Sungai Buloh means windfall for Khairy
[Image: Ramanan-2.jpg]

SOMEHOW similar to the disgruntlement of Klang folks who are resentful of the DAP dropping their three-term MP Charles Santiago on the rationale of “injecting new blood”, PKR’s decision to sideline incumbent three-term MP Sivarasa Rasiah has threatened to make the constituency a “safe seat” for caretaker Health Minister and incumbent Rembau MP Khairy Jamaluddin.

While the resentment in Klang over the selection of Kota Kemuning state assemblyman V. Ganabatirau to replace Santiago has not threatened to boil over to the extent it could trigger a ‘massive boycott’ by the Klang electorate, the same cannot be said of the Sungai Buloh constituency.

GE15: viral video sees irate BN members square off over candidate
[Image: 20221103-bn_candidate_scuffle_3-screen_grab.png]

KUALA LUMPUR – A video showing a shouting match purportedly between Umno grassroots members over the selection of a parliamentary candidate has made the rounds on social media, two days ahead of nomination day this Saturday.

A source told Sinar Harian that the incident took place on Tuesday and involved members of a division who were disgruntled over the selection of the candidate for the constituency.

In the one-and-a-half minute video, the party members are seen in a hall somewhere in Kuala Lumpur where an announcement of the candidate took place.

As the shouting match went on, the party members were seen nearing the point of a full-blown scuffle.

However, some of those present at the event had restrained the individuals who were seen acting aggressively in the video.

GE15: Titiwangsa showdown sees PH’s Kg Baru champion v Umno’s moneybags
[Image: 20220515-kul-kg_sg_baru_2-lancelot.jpg]

KUALA LUMPUR – The clash between Amanah veteran and popular community activist Khalid Abdul Samad, and Umno’s business mogul Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani is tipped to be a mouth-watering contest in Titiwangsa.

If past iterations of the general elections are any indication, the result of the coming federal polls for the urban constituency is anyone’s guess – and could go down to the wire.

The seat has already seen candidates from three different parties obtain the people’s mandate in past three elections, indicating that voters there are more amenable to experimenting with new faces and accepting changes.

GE15: Sivarasa confirms health issue largely behind axeing as candidate
[Image: 06082021-KUL-SIVARASA_RASIAH-SYEDA_IMRAN_17.jpg]

KUALA LUMPUR – Incumbent Sg Buloh MP Sivarasa Rasiah today revealed that the decision to drop him from contesting in the coming election was made at the eleventh hour.

In a statement to provide clarity on the matter, PKR’s legal bureau head said he was only informed by party president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on the evening of the announcement of PKR’s candidates last Friday.

Sivarasa said the decision was largely influenced by his health condition, confirming an earlier statement made by Anwar.

GE15: Tian Chua set for Batu return? Candidacy almost confirmed, says source
[Image: 31072021-_tian_chua_-_lawan_rally_dataran_-_syeda.jpg]

KUALA LUMPUR – Former PKR vice-president Chua Tian Chang will in all likelihood be contesting in the Batu constituency as an independent candidate, after he was overlooked by his party for the federal seat.

A source who spoke on condition of anonymity said, barring any last-minute changes, the public can almost certainly expect to see Chua file his nomination paper tomorrow morning.

“Chua has set his sights on regaining the seat. He wants to win it back after being disqualified from contesting in the last election. But a lot can happen between now and tomorrow morning.

“He owes me money”: Kok casts doubts on Jamal’s GE15 candidacy qualification
[Image: Teresa-Kok-The-Malaysian-Reserve-1536x1048.jpg]

INCUMBENT Seputeh MP Teresa Kok has sent a letter to the Election Commission (EC) objecting to Barisan Nasional’s (BN) naming of Datuk Seri Jamal Yunos as its candidate for the Sungai Besar parliamentary seat in the forthcoming 15th General Election (GE15).

In a letter to EC chairperson Tan Sri Abdul Ghani Salleh, Kok said she had served Jamal with a bankruptcy notice on Aug 30 based on a judgment she received.

On July 26, the High Court ruled that Jamal was liable for defaming Kok in 2017 when he accused her of misappropriating Yayasan Warisan Anak Selangor (Yawas) funds under the state government’s Skim Mesra Usia Emas (SMUE) initiative.

The court ordered him to pay Kok RM300,000 in damages and RM50,000 in costs.

[Image: anwar-ibrahim-mat-sabu-n-hadi-awang-collage-041122.jpg]

PETALING JAYA: PKR president Anwar Ibrahim and his Amanah counterpart, Mohamad Sabu, have criticised PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang for claiming that Pakatan Harapan and Umno are in talks to form the government after the general election.

Mohamad, also known as Mat Sabu, accused Hadi of lying. He said there was no possibility of PH working with Umno to form the new government, according to a China Press report.
