Wan Saiful likely to contest in Tasek Gelugor
[Image: FMT-WAN-SAIFUL-WAN-JAN-05.jpg]

PETALING JAYA: Bersatu information chief Wan Saiful Wan Jan is likely to contest the Tasek Gelugor seat in Penang in the coming general election (GE15).

According to a party source, Wan Saiful was initially touted to stand in Kubang Pasu, Kedah, where had been active on the ground.

However, the party has apparently had a change of heart because the Kubang Pasu Bersatu division is considered weak and unable to build up enough grassroots support before GE15.

The insider said Bersatu wants to field a “heavyweight” candidate to defend its Tasek Gelugor seat. Its former MP, Shabudin Yahaya, who won the seat on an Umno ticket before defecting to Bersatu, has decided to sit out of the nationwide polls.

PETALING JAYA: Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) asked Pakatan Harapan (PH) for only one parliamentary and two state seats in the general election (GE15), says PSM chairman Dr Michael Jeyakumar Devaraj.

Jeyakumar said, however, that the party had not received any response from PH so far, adding that it would be “very disappointing” if the coalition did not allow a PSM candidate to contest in Sungai Siput.

Ampang stalemate as Anwar, Rafizi differ on candidate, says source
[Image: Nurul-Izzah-Anwar-Rodziah-Ismail-collage-261022-1.jpg]

PETALING JAYA: PKR has yet to decide who among two women candidates will contest in the Ampang seat in the upcoming general election (GE15).

A source from PKR’s Ampang division told FMT that the seat will either be contested by PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar or Batu Tiga assemblyman Rodziah Ismail.

“The final decision is yet to be made because there is a clash between the candidates’ list from party president Anwar Ibrahim and that of deputy president Rafizi Ramli,” the source said.

“Rafizi wants Rodziah to contest for the seat as she has been a Selangor state executive councillor for two consecutive terms.”

PKR to field 26-year-old doctor in Sungai Petani
[Image: Mohammed-Taufiq-Johari-fb-281022-2.jpg]

PETALING JAYA: PKR will field a young candidate for the Sungai Petani parliamentary seat in the general election.

Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari, 26, the son of former Sungai Petani MP Johari Abdul, said he received a letter from the party on his candidacy yesterday.

“An official announcement will be made in Ampang (tonight),” the Kedah PKR Youth chief told FMT.

He denied that his father had intentionally made way for him to contest in Sungai Petani, saying there was a “vacancy” that needed to be filled after Johari decided not to defend the seat he had held for three terms.

GE15: are ‘former pro-Azmin’ PKR members getting axed from polls?

KUALA LUMPUR – Is this the end of the road for PKR leaders who are perceived to be previously aligned with party renegade Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali?

With the general election drawing closer, serious questions are now being asked on whether these individuals are deliberately overlooked as candidates, some despite commanding strong support from the grassroots.

Animosity is said to be still running high against Azmin within the PKR bloc, particularly among those aligned to deputy president Rafizi Ramli, who is also incidentally the party’s election director.

Speaking to The Vibes, several party insiders and members are questioning if this enmity against Azmin, as well as the decision by some leaders to take on members of Rafizi’s faction in the recent party election, has influenced the decision-making process on candidates.

“It’s now or never: GE15 is the last opportunity to save Malaysia from rotting further”

VETERAN lawmaker and DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang has likened the forthcoming 15th General Election (GE15) as the most important national poll in Malaysia’s 65-year history: it is “the last chance to save Malaysia from being a second-rate mediocre country”.

And instead of letting the country” deteriorate to become a third-class failed state like Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe by Malaysia Centennial (year 2057)”, GE15 is the last hope to fulfil Malaysia’s potential to become a great world-class plural nation (again).

“I have devoted 57 years of my life to Malaysian politics, including 15 months in Muar at the Muar Detention Centre in 1969-1970 but I have not given up on the Malaysian Dream where all Malaysians regardless of ethnic group or creed can find a better and more fulfilling life in Malaysia – whether political, economic, social or in the environment field,” shared the 81-year-old Iskandar Puteri MP.

DAP’s ex-Paloh rep to contest for Wee’s Ayer Hitam seat
[Image: Sheikh-Omar-Ali-Wee-Ka-Siong.jpg]

PETALING JAYA: DAP’s former Paloh assemblyman Sheikh Omar Ali will be contesting for the Ayer Hitam parliamentary seat in the general election.

MCA president Wee Ka Siong is widely expected to defend the seat for a fifth term, having represented the parliamentary constituency since 2004.

In the 2018 general election, Wee defeated DAP strategist Liew Chin Tong by a slim majority of 303 votes.

Sheikh Omar won the Paloh state seat in GE14 but failed to defend it during the Johor state election in March. He lost to MCA’s Lee Ting Han by 3,176 votes.

GE15: will Penang’s P. Ramasamy, Jagdeep be fielded elsewhere from current seats?
[Image: 04122020-KUL-dr_p._ramasamy_penang_vibes_pic_.jpg]

GEORGE TOWN – Questions have arisen over the fates of two local DAP leaders in Penang for the upcoming 15th general election (GE15), which will see polling conducted only for parliamentary constituencies in the state.

This is in view of both Deputy Chief Minister II P. Ramasamy and State Executive Councillor Jagdeep Singh Deo respectively holding the Prai and Datuk Keramat seats in the state assembly.

There are speculations about whether there will be moves to field them elsewhere from their current seats.

While Jagdeep, son of late Karpal Singh who was chairman of DAP, may be allowed to continue at the state level, there are questions about whether Ramasamy should also be allowed a similar run.

Angels coming down to vote for PAS? Kelantanese mustn’t be gullible!

KELANTANESE have been advised by netizens to not be gullible to certain rhetoric come the 15th national polls on the promise that angels will come down from heaven and vote for PAS.

A case in point is that of a PAS ceramah (talks) at the height of the 14th General Election (GE14) in 2018 when PAS Kelantan deputy head youth chief Ustaz Nor Azariza Mohd Alawi said the Islamic party took note from the historic Battle Of Badr (also referred to as “The Day of the Criterion in the Qur’an” by Muslims) where the almighty Allah had helped Muslim soldiers by sending angels on horses equipped with shields and swords to take on the enemy.

“If Allah wants to help us, he can do it in thousands of ways, although we are only going for a general election and not a war,” he was quoted as saying during the ceramah in Kelantan.
