  Afghanistan receives second batch of China-donated winter supplies

KABUL, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- The second batch of winter supplies donated by China has arrived in Kabul, capital of Afghanistan.

Afghan deputy minister of refugees and repatriation affairs of the caretaker government Arsala Kharoti and Chinese Ambassador to Afghanistan Wang Yu attended the handover ceremony on Monday in a depot of the ministry in Kabul.

This batch of winter supplies include more than 70,000 blankets and more than 40,000 down coats. At this critical moment, the aid brings warmth from the Chinese people to the Afghan people, the Chinese ambassador said while addressing the ceremony.

Wang said that China would continue to donate other aid including food to Afghanistan.

As a good neighbor of Afghanistan, China is ready to help Afghanistan overcome the current difficulties, Wang said.

Officials from the ministry of refugees and repatriation affairs received the supplies.

Kharoti thanked China for providing the emergency supplies as many Afghan people are experiencing a difficult time.

These aid supplies will be distributed to eligible people around the country, he added.

  U.S. should stop its human rights slandering game
Posted by: superadmin - 12-14-2021, 03:11 PM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

The so-called Summit for Democracy recently hosted by the U.S. was nothing about democracy, but merely a script that advocated suppressing other countries and dividing the world.

It was just ridiculous for the U.S. to give the floor to those who are opposed to China and attempt to destabilize Hong Kong and allowed the representatives of Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) to issue a so-called "state declaration" that challenged the "one-China" principle. The U.S. even launched a new round of sanctions against China in the name of "human rights" on Human Rights Day.

Such gross interference in China's domestic affairs and practices to contain China, which came under the disguise of the so-called "democracy" and "human rights," was exactly a piece of hard evidence of Washington taking democracy and human rights as tools and weapons.

Those who are opposed to China and attempt to destabilize Hong Kong, and the Taiwan separatists, will only be remembered by history as a shame for what they have done at the so-called Summit for Democracy as political puppets of the U.S.

  ‘Rakya should benefit most from Sabah, S’wak constitutional amendment
Posted by: superadmin - 12-14-2021, 02:52 PM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

[Image: 20211012-anwar_ibrahim-bernama.jpg]

KUALA LUMPUR – The proposed amendments to the federal constitution that will see Sabah and Sarawak given greater recognition should be done in the interest of the rakyat and not elitist politicians, said Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (Port Dickson-PH).

The opposition leader said this should be given priority should the amendments be passed, beyond just words on paper that could potentially grant additional powers to state leaders to abuse.

“The provisions we have agreed upon are to uphold the democracy and justice in this country, not merely to guarantee power for the states (of Sabah and Sarawak),” he said in the Dewan Rakyat today.

“There must be a guarantee that the goal is to protect the interests of the rakyat, which is different to protecting the interests of state leaders and elitist politicians. That is why we want to ensure this (amendment) is implemented in its entirety.

“This is not a power transition for political leaders, but for the rakyat. There is a difference.”

  Will election goodies help the rich and powerful win Sarawak? – Stephen Then
Posted by: superadmin - 12-14-2021, 02:49 PM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

[Image: 011002021-kuching-Pixabay.jpg]

IT HAS been a week of explosive verbal sparring among the contesting parties during the Sarawak election campaign, with interesting accusations of cronyism, nepotism, corrupt deals, loads of free beer, and instant handouts to religious organisations.

With less than one week to go before polling day next Saturday, more drama looms on the horizon for Sarawak. We can expect the coming week to be more explosive – verbally, of course.

The candidates are going for the kill – metaphorically. There were plenty of juicy accusations and subsequent denials over the past week.

Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) was in the spotlight, with former deputy chief minister Datuk Douglas Uggah Embas being accused by the opposition of having a hand in dishing out government contracts for huge projects to certain contractors he knew.

  More restrictions hinder opposition while GPS runs amok in S’wak: PKR
Posted by: superadmin - 12-14-2021, 02:31 PM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

[Image: Michael-Teo-Yu-Keng-MIRI-his-FACEBOOK.jpg]

MIRI – Sarawak PKR has claimed that those in power are making it more difficult for opposition parties to reach out to voters during the crucial run-up to polling day on Saturday.

State PKR vice-chairman Dr Michael Teo Yu Keng told The Vibes today that PKR and other Pakatan Harapan teams on the ground are being hampered by increasingly unreasonable restrictions.

“We in PKR and other PH parties are finding it tougher to visit longhouses and villages.

“There are so-called security people who say they are working for the authorities and will stop us from talking to all the people.

“We are not even allowed to even use loudspeakers. We can only talk to just a few people at a time.

“Our teams are only allowed a few minutes to talk to the people we meet. We then have to leave. These campaign restrictions are really affecting our outreach to voters,” he said.

In contrast, the Miri MP said that GPS ministers and candidates are allowed full audiences during their visits to kampungs and longhouses.

Their visits are considered official government events.

“This is definitely very unfair. They are using all government resources at will,” he said.

  West launches ideology warfare on China with 'economic coercion' claim
Posted by: superadmin - 12-14-2021, 02:22 PM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

[Image: b455d892-c195-4358-ae74-03e1cb1e842e.jpeg]

With G7 countries hyping so-called China's coercive economic policies at the just-concluded summit in Liverpool, the Washington-led slander of Beijing with "economic coercion" is climbing to a peak in recent days. Observers said the move  - in sharp contrast to the absence of accusations against the US, the world's largest launcher of coercive practices - shows the malicious aim of a small Western circle, made up of some "democratic" countries, to cast themselves as victims to justify the illegal sanction weapons that ultimately serve their anti-China agenda.

The playbook on China's alleged economic coercion sounds quite familiar, after the West has been flexing its political and economic clout to wage "a combo of punches" to smear China - ranging from targeting China on virus origins to alleged human rights abuses in China's Xinjiang region.

  Race-driven politics here to stay unless public mindset changes: DAP leaders
Posted by: superadmin - 12-14-2021, 11:06 AM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

[Image: 04122020-KUL-dr_p._ramasamy_penang_vibes_pic_.jpg]

GEORGE TOWN – Politics driven by race and religion will continue to prevail until the average Malaysian begins to shun them, upon realising they have brought the country nowhere in this age of globalisation, said a DAP leader.

Party central executive committee member P. Ramasamy said that until the ordinary folk are fed up and begin to abandon such shallow politics, the ruse of using race and religion by elite groups will continue.

Commenting on why DAP continues to be seen as a bogeyman by Malay/Bumiputera groups, the Penang deputy chief minister said that it is difficult to fight parties that champion race and religious issues, as such issues have been institutionalised in the country.

The Perai rep told The Vibes that it is difficult for DAP to shed its anti-Malay image because the stigma has long been attached to the party.

He said he does not see it as a DAP leadership issue, but more of a perception intentionally sowed by rivals who have much to lose if multiracialism reigns in the country.

Of course, he said, it also does not help that the party in the past was perceived to be dominated by the Chinese, but DAP has changed with an outreach to all Malaysians.

  Prop up Ismail until Najib’s case ends, says Chin Tong
Posted by: superadmin - 12-14-2021, 10:59 AM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

[Image: MoU-kerajaan-n-PH-bernama-130921.jpg]

PETALING JAYA: Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s government must be supported until former prime minister Najib Razak’s corruption case comes to a conclusion, says DAP strategist Liew Chin Tong.

Pakatan Harapan should maintain its political pact with Ismail’s government, as there would be a snap general election the moment the pact collapses – “a dream come true” for what he called Umno’s “troika”, comprising Najib, Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan.

“If the troika win a majority, the two senior leaders will walk free from jail,” he said in an article posted on Sunday.

Liew said that Ismail was only “50% Umno”, being close to Muhyiddin Yassin’s Bersatu and the Perikatan Nasional coalition, Umno’s rival to gain Malay voter support.

  Beware: Covid-19 can kill your sex life
Posted by: superadmin - 12-14-2021, 10:46 AM - Forum: Covid-19 Pandemic - No Replies

[Image: a-kathirasen-new-latest-290821-1.jpg]

Covid-19 is decimating the human population. This much we know and we can see. Now comes more troubling news: it could also decimate unborn generations.

Already more than 3.3 million people have died throughout the world due to Covid-19 and many more are expected to die over the months. Research now shows that Covid-19 can also cause erectile dysfunction (ED), which could have a devastating effect on population growth.

For a while now, we have been told that those who recover from the disease could suffer health issues, even over the long term.

According to the Mayo Clinic, most people recover completely within a few weeks but some people continue to suffer health issues after their initial recovery.

Although Mayo Clinic says much remains unknown about the long-term effects of Covid-19, it lists the following as possible signs and symptoms that linger over time:

  • Fatigue;
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty in breathing;
  • Cough;
  • Joint pain;
  • Chest pain;
  • Memory, concentration or sleep problems;
  • Muscle pain or headache;
  • Fast or pounding heartbeat;
  • Loss of smell or taste;
  • Depression or anxiety;
  • Fever;
  • Dizziness when you stand; and
  • Worsened symptoms after physical or mental activities

All the above are bad enough, but now, to make even the most stouthearted man go limp, comes another possible long-term effect: A study published in the World Journal of Men’s Health says Covid-19 could impair one’s manhood.

  Umno can ensure secularism, linking with Amanah and DAP
Posted by: superadmin - 12-14-2021, 10:33 AM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

[Image: K-Parkaran-Columnist-3-.jpg]

Recent flip-flops by the federal government on matters involving non-Muslim liberties have led to some people accusing it of playing the “good cop, bad cop” game.

The issue of reversing its stand of asking the manufacturers of Timah whisky to do a name change was one among them.

Here, domestic trade and consumer affairs minister Alexander Nanta Linggi, a Sarawakian Christian, was seen as the hero by settling the matter in a most amicable manner, when it was not an issue in the first place. Level heads prevailed despite PAS’ stand on the matter.

Then came the finance ministry’s new regulation on alcohol sale and licensing fees which saw a barrage of protests from non-Muslims. It was not because all of them were alcoholics, but most felt that if allowed, the ruling could be the start of authorities infringing on the rights of non-Muslims in a constitutionally secular country.

In came MCA’s Wee Ka Siong, sounding like a knight in shining armour, making an announcement that the Customs department, which is under the finance ministry, would cancel the order. It’s obvious why the government tasked Wee with making the announcement when he was only the transport minister. Of course it was to score points with the Chinese community.
