KUALA LUMPUR – With Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) harping on the narrative of political stability as the endgame for having a snap election in Johor, analysts and an opposition politician instead believe their intentions are far more deeply-rooted than it appears.
Even as Johor Umno leaders themselves attribute the need to return the mandate to the people as sufficient reason to call for polls, others see it as a calculated political manoeuvre by leaders on the party’s hierarchy in a move to stamp their authority in Umno.
Among the Umno personalities who have been openly endorsing the idea of statewide polls is party vice-president Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin. He has been candid about the need to reassert political stability within the state government, especially expressed on social media.
Khaled has also remained consistent in his stance that the people’s mandate must be returned through the ballot box, even reaffirming his point when contacted by The Vibes.
However, when pressed to comment on the notion of polls in Johor being a mere smokescreen for disputes higher up the leadership chain, Khaled declined to comment.

KUALA LUMPUR – According to sources within the national badminton fraternity, it is rumoured that national shuttler Lee Zii Jia will be joining the resurrected Kuala Lumpur Racket Club (KLRC) for a whopping amount to the tune of seven figures.
“I am not sure about the exact details but it is rumoured that this million-ringgit contract will be for two to three years.
“It is disappointing if this news is true because the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) has done everything for Zii Jia.
“If the decision was based on monetary reasons, he should have discussed it with the president of BAM to come up with the best solution,” said the source.
If KLRC is the next destination for Zii Jia, he would be joining former national women’s shuttler Goh Jin Wei, who quit BAM in September last year due to health concerns but has since signed a three-year contract with KLRC earlier this month.
The source also questioned whether BAM could have been the trigger for these players’ departure from the national association.
“If she had quit BAM due to health concerns, how is she back on the court within four months and with a different club?” the source added.
Earlier today, news broke that Zii Jia had turned in his letter of resignation to BAM.
BAM president Tan Sri Mohamad Norza Zakaria said they had received his letter on January 11 in which Zii Jia explained that he could not handle the pressure and wants to pursue his career at his own pace.
Zii Jia had previously brought home the men’s singles gold medal from the 2019 SEA Games and also went on to win the 2021 All England Open Badminton Championship. − The Vibes, January 19, 2022

PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said he will leave it to the Johor state government to decide on whether snap polls should take place.
“Let the Johor state government decide. If the menteri besar Hasni Mohammad feels there is a need for state elections, then they need to have an audience with the Johor Sultan.

Dr Raman Letchumanan: The probe by the Securities Commission (SC) only came about because MACC chief Azam Baki, in his defence to the whistleblower’s expose, said the shares were bought by his brother using his account. This was a violation of Section 25(4) of the Securities Industry (Central Depositories) Act (Sicda) if established.
If SC says there is no conclusive evidence that section was violated, then by inference, Azam is the beneficial owner by legally trading in his own account.
Therefore, Azam lied to the Anti-Corruption Advisory Board that his brother used his account to buy the shares and the shares belonged to his brother.
Consequently, the claim by Azam that he had transferred the shares to his brother is also suspect. If he had indeed done that, Azam probably wanted to exonerate himself from explaining how he had the means to buy the shares and was in violation of civil service regulations.
So, it is back to square one on the conflict-of-interest charges. Furthermore, it now appears Azam seemed to lie to escape any further probes. As I see it, the SC decision only leads to further investigation on possible violations of other laws and regulations.

A folk singer from the Czech Republic has died after deliberately catching Covid, her son has told the BBC.
Hana Horka, 57, was unvaccinated and had posted on social media that she was recovering after testing positive, but died two days later.
Her son, Jan Rek, said she got infected on purpose when he and his father had the virus, so she could get a recovery pass to access certain venues.
The Czech Republic reported a record number of Covid-19 cases on Wednesday.

PETALING JAYA: Thirteen out of the 18 items in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Pakatan Harapan (PH) and the federal government last September has been implemented, according to PKR’s Fahmi Fadzil.
In a series of Tweets, the Lembah Pantai MP said the PH steering committee for transformation and political stability, which met today, discussed the remaining five criteria yet to be implemented.
These include the anti-hopping law, which he said must be tabled and passed in the first Parliament sitting of the year. Meanwhile, the Parliamentary Services Act would be implemented by March.

PETALING JAYA: MPs have questioned if Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief Azam Baki was lying when he said his brother had used his account to purchase shares, following the Securities Commission’s (SC) latest statement.
Earlier today, the SC said Azam was the named account holder, and had control of the trading account in question. The statement added that the top graft buster had also operated the account he opened, giving instructions to buy, sell and transfer securities from it.
Several opposition lawmakers took to social media to react to the SC’s statement, with Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii saying it seemed to imply that Azam had full control of his account and purchased the shares himself.

PETALING JAYA: National shuttler Lee Zii Jia has resigned from the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM).
His resignation was confirmed by BAM president Norza Zakaria.
“He couldn’t take the pressure and he said he wants to achieve his own dreams according to his own pace.
“We tried to persuade him and tried to negotiate but his team and family are still adamant,” Norza told FMT.

1. I wonder how often to do laundry it is reasonable?
I would like to get a balance between work and study, while keeping clothes cleanable.
Money is also a concern. I used to live in a house with a washer and dryer available any time without extra cost. I now live in an apartment which charges every access to the washer and dryer.
2. Is it necessary/better to wash some clothes with hand instead of washers, although the washers provide delicate and firm press options besides regular?
3. Is it necessary/better to treat different clothes in different frequencies for laundry?
