Trump campaign officials, led by Rudy Giuliani, oversaw fake electors plot in 7 states

[Image: 106875201-16196277332021-04-28t163247z_1...=740&h=416]

Washington (CNN)Trump campaign officials, led by Rudy Giuliani, oversaw efforts in December 2020 to put forward illegitimate electors from seven states that Trump lost, according to three sources with direct knowledge of the scheme.

The sources said members of former President Donald Trump's campaign team were far more involved than previously known in the plan, a core tenet of the broader plot to overturn President Joe Biden's victory when Congress counted the electoral votes on January 6.

Giuliani and his allies coordinated the nuts-and-bolts of the process on a state-by-state level, the sources told CNN. One source said there were multiple planning calls between Trump campaign officials and GOP state operatives, and that Giuliani participated in at least one call. The source also said the Trump campaign lined up supporters to fill elector slots, secured meeting rooms in statehouses for the fake electors to meet on December 14, 2020, and circulated drafts of fake certificates that were ultimately sent to the National Archives.

‘99.9%’ PAS grassroots pleased with Khairuddin’s removal, says Hadi
Posted by: superadmin - 01-21-2022, 03:02 PM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

PETALING JAYA: About “99.9%” of PAS grassroots are said to be pleased with the decision to drop former minister Khairuddin Aman Razali from its central committee, party president Abdul Hadi Awang said.

He said there was no need for PAS to elaborate on the matter or issue an official statement, despite calls to do so, Utusan Malaysia reported.

Hadi said it was clear that Khairuddin’s ouster was linked to disciplinary issues and was an internal matter that need not be publicised.

“There’s no need (for an official explanation), such opinions calling for an explanation to be provided are isolated, and I was informed that 99.9% of the grassroots were pleased,” the Malay daily quoted him as saying.

AG must probe conflicting accounts in Azam Baki case, says lawyer
Posted by: superadmin - 01-21-2022, 02:57 PM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

[Image: FMT-YB-RAMKARPAL-SINGH-KARPAL-SINGH-MP-P...0719-4.jpg]

PETALING JAYA: The contradiction between Azam Baki’s admission that his brother used his account and the Securities Commission’s (SC) findings that he was solely responsible for any trading must be referred to the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC).

DAP’s Ramkarpal Singh said it was only appropriate for the AGC to step in now to investigate the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief’s alleged securities law breach.

“The conflicting accounts with Azam first saying his trading account was used by his brother, while SC later saying the account was used by Azam only is enough to arouse suspicions.

“It’s enough to get the AGC to open an investigation into the matter,” he said.

He added that a source within the SC who told FMT that it need not refer the matter to the AGC was wrong, as it was common to have the attorney-general review such findings. He also asked the SC to state if the source’s claim was also its official stand.

Sultan has final say over Johor snap polls, says lawyer
Posted by: superadmin - 01-21-2022, 09:53 AM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

PETALING JAYA: The Sultan of Johor has the final say on whether the state legislature will be dissolved and snap elections held, a lawyer said.

Bastian Pius Vendargon said that under the state constitution, only the menteri besar, in his capacity as the head of the executive, can approach the ruler to request for a dissolution.

“As stated under the Second Part of Article 7, the Sultan has the discretion whether to accept the menteri besar’s request to dissolve the legislature,” he told FMT.

Vendargon said this in response to a statement by Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob that he will leave it to the state government to decide whether snap polls should take place.

No notice received to dissolve state assembly, says Johor speaker
Posted by: superadmin - 01-21-2022, 09:47 AM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

PETALING JAYA: Johor state assembly speaker Suhaizan Kaiat has denied receiving a letter on the dissolution of the assembly to make way for state polls.

He said his office has not received any letter or verbal notice from the Johor menteri besar on the matter.

“Nothing at all,” he said on reports over a notice to dissolve the assembly.

A news portal had reported that a letter to dissolve the assembly was sent by menteri besar Hasni Mohammad to the speaker’s office.

Citing Umno sources, it said the state assembly would be dissolved on Sunday after the application was approved by the Johor palace.

  Can Muhyiddin survive Johor elections?
Posted by: superadmin - 01-21-2022, 09:41 AM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

PETALING JAYA: Bersatu leader Muhyiddin Yassin may be caught between a rock and a hard place if elections are called in Johor, analysts say.

Senior fellow at Nusantara Academy for Strategic Research (NASR) Azmi Hassan said Umno is pushing for elections in the state to test Muhyiddin’s strength and support in what was once considered Barisan Nasional’s (BN) stronghold.

“One of the main reasons is to finish off Bersatu and put Muhyiddin in an awkward position during GE15 (the upcoming general election).

“That is why Umno is pushing for the state polls,” he told FMT.

Azmi said elections in Johor, which could take place just after Chinese New Year, would provide a stern test for Bersatu.

PETALING JAYA: Health activists have cautioned the government against calling for a general election until there is an appreciable improvement in the Covid-19 situation.

Azrul Mohd Khalib of the Galen Centre for Health and Social Policy and former deputy health minister Dr Lee Boon Chye said there should not be any eagerness to have the election this year just because last December’s Sarawak election did not lead to a spike in Covid-19 cases.

MACC fiasco: people have the right to ask questions on SC’s decision on Azam – Gobind
Posted by: superadmin - 01-20-2022, 09:21 PM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

PRIME MINISTER Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has asked everyone to accept the decision of the Securities Commission (SC). He said they have investigated Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief Tan Sri Azam Baki and after investigations, a decision has been made and we must accept that decision.

This call by the prime minister demonstrates a total failure of leadership on his part and a total failure on part of his government to deal with institutional problems which have a huge impact on our country.

The prime minister must accept the fact that people have every right to ask questions, especially in cases where there are concerns over decisions made by the authorities. He cannot just ask people to sit back and accept such decisions.

In this case, no reasons were at first given explaining why the inquiry was unable to conclude that Section 25(4) was breached.

When pressed for an answer, the SC issued a second statement. That statement alluded to independent evidence which appears to contradict what Azam Baki said in a press conference on January 10.

I want the prime minister to explain this. If he is unable to, then who is he to insist that we just accept such a decision?

Impact of Undi18, automatic voter registration on Malaysian politics – Thomas Fann
Posted by: superadmin - 01-20-2022, 09:05 PM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

[Image: 20210327-voting_undi18_indelible_ink_ele..._grab.jpeg]

SO, Undi18 and Automatic Voters Registration (AVR) are finally implemented.

Two-and-a-half years after the historic constitutional amendments to lower the voting age in Malaysia from 21 to 18, after some delays, backpedalling on the timeline to implement and a court order to implement it by the end of 2021, it is a done deal.

In simple terms, if there is an election after January 16, 2022, any 18-year-old citizen and above can walk into their designated polling station, present their MyKad and vote without having to pre-register.

Here are the data as released by the Election Commission (EC) on January 12.
