Don’t hope PH will deliver on all pledges, public told
Posted by: superadmin - 11-30-2022, 09:35 AM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

PETALING JAYA: A political analyst has cautioned the public against expecting Pakatan Harapan (PH) to deliver on all of its election promises now that it is part of a unity government.

Azmi Hassan of Akademi Nusantara said such an expectation would be unfair to PH since the government included Barisan Nasional, Gabungan Parti Sarawak and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah.

“It’s going to be difficult for PH to fulfil 100% of its 10-point manifesto because it has to deal with three other coalitions too,” he told FMT.

PH to counter ‘overwhelming’ slander against Anwar, govt
Posted by: superadmin - 11-30-2022, 09:31 AM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

PETALING JAYA: Pakatan Harapan will go all-out to combat the “overwhelming” slander against Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and his new administration, says the coalition’s communications director.

Fahmi Fadzil said that since Anwar took his oath on Nov 24, PH has faced “one slanderous claim after another” – from the government supposedly being pro-Israel to supporting the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community.

Attacks have also been launched against PH component DAP, a party that PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang claimed was spreading Islamophobia.

Hadi’s attack on DAP an attempt to thwart ‘unity govt’, says Anthony Loke
Posted by: superadmin - 11-29-2022, 08:07 PM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 29 — By accusing DAP of Islamophobia, PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang has shown his hand in trying to pit Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) parties against one another to prevent the “unity government” from working, Anthony Loke Siew Fook said today.

The DAP secretary-general added that his party will respond to Abdul Hadi's claims in due course, Utusan Malaysia reported this afternoon.

“That is indeed trying to challenge DAP. What we have achieved now, the unity government, they want to challenge.

“We have to be patient, we will make an explanation, if there is anything that we feel is slanderous, then we will make a police report,” Loke was quoted telling reporters in Seremban after the Negri Sembilan state assembly sitting.

Unity government: Will Malaysians be made sacrificial lambs for political expediency?
Posted by: superadmin - 11-29-2022, 07:00 PM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

LET me first congratulate Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for his appointment as Malaysia’s 10th Prime Minister (PM).

On a scale of 1 to 10, the number 10 denotes excellence, perfection, the highest aspiration or achievement, or most commonly an A+.  It is a fitting crowning glory for Anwar who has aspired that top position for 24 years. Conversely 1 can also denote the same depending on calibration.

Well, 65 years since Malaysia transition from colonial to self-rule, the country has self-inflicted itself into a deeply divided and polarised nation, and fast heading towards an independent failed state.

Will Anwar become a Bapa Reformasi (father of reformation) – his rallying call since he was sacked from government and jailed 10 years in between?

Will he rise up, re-unite and reverse the trend to make Malaysia a prosperous developed nation, the likes of a roaring tiger of the 1980s and 1990s? Will Malaysians once again re-live the spirit of unity and togetherness as one nation one people like in 1957?

S’gor speaker singles out Azmin, Harumaini for no-show in state sitting

SHAH ALAM – Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali (Bukit Antarabangsa-Perikatan Nasional) is one of the state lawmakers who have yet to attend a session in the current Selangor assembly sitting that started on November 23.

In addressing the low attendance today, state speaker Ng Suee Lim singled out former Selangor menteri besar Azmin and Harumaini Omar (Batang Kali-Pejuang) have been missing in action since the sitting started.

“Only 70% out of the 56 representatives attended the current sitting, making it one of the lowest turnouts ever recorded at the state legislative assembly,” Ng told reporters at the sidelines here today.

Selangor lawmakers’ poor attendance also compelled Ng to address the issue of whether state executive councillors (exco)  should answer written questions submitted by absent assemblymen during the sitting.

Bukit Aman probing Hadi over alleged ‘Israeli agent’ claim against PM
Posted by: superadmin - 11-29-2022, 06:12 PM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

PETALING JAYA: Police are investigating PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang over claims that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is an Israeli agent.

Bukit Aman secretary Noorsiah Saaduddin said the remark was allegedly made by Hadi and that the probe was being carried out by Bukit Aman’s classified investigation unit (D5).

The case has been classified under Sections 500 and 504 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for defamation, intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of peace, and improper use of network facilities, respectively.

Yesterday, PKR information chief Fahmi Fadzil said Anwar had directed the police to take action against anyone spreading slanderous statements against him, such as claims that he was an Israeli agent.

How FTX ‘death spiral’ spelled doom for BlockFi, according to bankruptcy filing
Posted by: superadmin - 11-29-2022, 03:34 PM - Forum: Business, Economy and Investment - No Replies

  • BlockFi’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy troubles began with FTX, a BlockFi advisor said in a court filing, with a liquidity injection that was supposed to save the company.
  • BlockFi advisor Mark Renzi said that BlockFi was completely unlike FTX, but laid the lion’s share of the blame at the feet of many others: on the broader markets, on bankrupt hedge fund Three Arrows Capital, and on FTX.
  • On November 10, the day FTX filed for bankruptcy, BlockFi paused customer withdrawals. Investors, like at FTX, Voyager, and Celsius, are now left in limbo, with no access to their funds.

There was supposedly one man who could save crypto — Sam Bankman-Fried. The former FTX CEO bailed out and took over crypto firms as cryptocurrency markets withered with Terra’s spring crash. In October, FTX won the bidding war for bankrupt crypto firm Voyager Digital in a highly advantageous deal.

With the collapse of FTX, the firms which Bankman-Fried saved now find themselves in an uncertain state. Voyager put itself back up for auction last week. Today, BlockFi filed for bankruptcy in New Jersey, after weeks of speculation that the FTX collapse had fatally crippled it.

The FTX “death spiral,” as BlockFi advisor Mark Renzi put it, has now spread to another crypto entity. BlockFi’s bankruptcy had been anticipated for some time, but in a detailed 41-page filing, Renzi walks creditors, investors, and the court through his perspective at the helm of BlockFi.

“Zahid should be in Cabinet, could play key role in stabilising Anwar’s govt”,

“Zahid should be in Cabinet, could play key role in stabilising Anwar’s govt”, Tian Chua says
[Image: Tian-Chua-The-Star-1536x1005.jpg]

WHILE there have been calls for Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to be omitted from the soon-to-be-formed Cabinet, former PKR vice-president Tian Chua has argued that the UMNO president could play a key role in stabilising Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s government.

According to FMT, Tian Chua pointed out that Zahid was “instrumental” in the formation of the unity government, which saw Barisan Nasional agreeing to collaborate with its political arch nemesis Pakatan Harapan (PH), with other coalitions and parties following suit soon after.

Tian Chua further noted that while there were forces within BN that had strongly opposed to the coalition joining hands with PH, Zahid had stood firm in his decision.

No more procurements without tender, says Anwar
Posted by: superadmin - 11-29-2022, 02:33 PM - Forum: Stop Corruptions - No Replies

[Image: 29112022_-_Datuk_Seri_Anwar_Ibrahim_hadi...HMAN_9.jpg]

PUTRAJAYA – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has stressed that the governance process by the administration led by him will no longer approve procurements without a tender.

In his keynote address during his inaugural monthly assembly with officers in the Prime Minister’s Office this morning, Anwar said the government under his leadership can no longer allow leaks, leakages and corruption to continue to manifest.

“Issues involving regulations, procurement and approvals without tenders are all no longer possible.

“So, for this initial stage, I would like to call, invite (civil servants) to be together in a team, let’s be determined to save our country,” he said.
