‘I am no traitor,’ says Perak MB
Posted by: superadmin - 11-27-2022, 02:53 PM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

KUALA LUMPUR – Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad has dismissed allegations that he had colluded with Pakatan Harapan (PH) to retain his position and form a political alignment between Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) in Perak.

Defending himself against accusations that he was a traitor, Saarani, who is the state BN chairman, said the decision was made to ensure the Perak government was stable and well-governed right after the 15th general election (GE15) was completed.

He said allegations of being a traitor and other negative comments, including those from PAS, were baseless as the decision was taken in the interest of the state and the people.

“What is most important for me is to be able to make right and accurate decisions. That is what I believe in. So why say I’m a traitor? I did not join DAP, PH, or PKR.

Keep Cabinet free of MPs with court cases, says PKR leader
Posted by: superadmin - 11-27-2022, 11:29 AM - Forum: Politics - Replies (1)

[Image: PKR-party-central-leadership-council-mem...9-02-1.jpg]

PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s Cabinet must be free of MPs with ongoing court cases, says Setiawangsa MP Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.

He said this was imperative and that it did not matter that those concerned have yet to be found guilty of the charges they are facing, Sinar Harian reported.

“Ideally, those with court cases should not be in the Cabinet to prevent issues arising down the line,” the PKR vice-president was quoted as saying.

Nik Nazmi said the public remained concerned about corruption cases involving politicians, adding that a Cabinet free of ministers facing trial would put such fears to rest.

YOURSAY | Be prepared for race-religion onslaught from PAS
Posted by: superadmin - 11-27-2022, 09:12 AM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

VioletGopher4717: Why, thank you, PAS, for choosing to stay out of the government. We, the people who didn't vote for your brand of politics and PAS, which uses race and religion to gain power, appreciate it very much.

Also, we see what you're trying to do. Without - for the lack of a better word - demonising DAP and ‘othering’ everyone who don't accept your ideology, including Malaysians who identify as Malays and Muslims, do you have anything of value to contribute?

Perhaps show us how well the states under your governance perform in terms of the economy, education, healthcare, welfare, and lifting the people out of poverty. Can you do that? If not, please, take a seat and leave governing to people who can.

YellowKancil0051: As usual, PAS will use divisive tactics by somehow singling out DAP in their statement. No doubt, they will use this in their propaganda to say Harapan is somehow controlled by non-Malays (read: DAP) when that is far from the truth taking into consideration all the government's component parties.

Truly, I hope Malaysians will wise up to PAS and their race/religion rhetoric and open their eyes to broader politics that focus on bread-and-butter issues that are more important - issues that PAS have shown they fail miserably in states that they govern.

The non-Malays have already rejected parties like MIC and MCA because they are no longer relevant when they condone corruption in BN - issues that affect all Malaysians regardless of race or religion.

Thankfully, there are Muslim Malaysians who reject PAS and accurately identify them as ‘penunggang agama’ (religious manipulators) who use religion to justify all their misgivings. Let’s hope all Malaysians, especially the Malay youth, open their eyes.

The non-Malays are not trying to supplant Islam or overthrow Malay institutions.

Let’s celebrate another peaceful transfer of power
Posted by: superadmin - 11-27-2022, 08:09 AM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

The GE15 suspense is finally over. There’ll be more drama down the road, certainly, part of the “Long GE15” syndrome, but let’s worry about those events later.

For a few weeks during campaigning our politicians were for once blissfully authentic, showing their true selves – politicos begging people for power using whatever pretexts they think will work. It was both fun and sad to watch.

But now, let’s celebrate another peaceful transfer of power, one without the Machiavellian intrigues of GE14, the comedy of the US and UK’s recent transfers of power, or the tragedies of some other countries.

Don’t consider finance minister role at all, Bersih tells Anwar
Posted by: superadmin - 11-26-2022, 07:58 PM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

PETALING JAYA: Electoral reform group Bersih has taken note of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s statement that he was not considering the role of finance minister “at the moment”, saying that instead he should not be considering it at all.

“He should not for a moment consider it as it would totally remove any semblance of check and balance in the inner sanctum of his own Cabinet.

“Have we not learned from the follies of (former prime minister) Najib Razak?” said the group’s steering committee in a statement, referring to Najib’s 1MDB scandal which took place while he was finance minister.

  ‘Langkah Sheraton’ trends on Twitter
Posted by: superadmin - 11-26-2022, 07:29 PM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

[Image: dinner_Azmin_Hadi_Zahid_Sheraton_FMT_230220.jpg]

PETALING JAYA: The phrase “Langkah Sheraton” (Sheraton Move) began trending on Twitter with many netizens expressing concerns that there would be a repeat of such a move.

This comes following a viral Twitter post of a meeting between Barisan Nasional (BN) and PAS members that purportedly took place at the Tropicana Golf & Country Resort from 10.30am to noon yesterday.

Twitter user @sinkingboatcapt said she still had “post-traumatic stress disorder” from the Sheraton Move.

She feared it may happen again. “Cannot be too comfortable and happy, because even now I know Muhyiddin Yassin is planning behind closed doors,” she tweeted.

Declare climate emergency, climate justice movement urges Anwar
Posted by: superadmin - 11-26-2022, 06:04 PM - Forum: Environment Protection News - No Replies

A LOCAL climate justice movement has called on newly-minted prime minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to declare a climate emergency as the world braces for the threats of climate destabilisation and a looming environmental collapse.

A climate emergency refers to a situation in which urgent action is required to reduce or halt climate change and avoid potentially irreversible environmental damage resulting from it.

In August, then-environment and water minister Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said the government does not need to declare an emergency yet since climate actions are underway, even as flash floods, weather changes and logging continue to take place.

The Bersatu-PAS ‘marriage’: An ill-fated matrimony that does nobody any good
Posted by: superadmin - 11-26-2022, 05:57 PM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

THE winds of change that blew across the country in the aftermath of the 15th General Election (GE15) can be said to have blown away all hopes of seeing racial harmony and religious tolerance taking firm root in a multiracial society.

What has emerged is a coalition of two major forces that are united in their political cause and political creed that might not be healthy for the country.

Perikatan Nasional (PN) which was given a slim chance of advancing to the forefront of national politics, staged a stunning comeback to overtake the Barisan Nasional (BN) to become the new powerhouse in Malaysian political history.

But behind this tale of the rise of a new dawn for Malaysia is the frightening awareness that the leaders of the two parties – Bersatu and PAS – are not the type you would want to entrust your future.

Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, the Bersatu president who sees Jews behind every tree, is no strong advocate of a pluralistic society because he once said he is Malay first and Malaysian second.

Tan Sri Hadi Awang, the PAS president who sees communists under every bed, is overtly antagonistic towards other races and is hell-bent on establishing a state based largely on divine rules.

With these two leaders now in the ascendancy, they could pose big problem to all the cherished values that have sustained collective harmony for so long.

Abang Jo pays Anwar a visit
Posted by: superadmin - 11-26-2022, 05:36 PM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

[Image: abang-johari-openg-anwar-ibrahim-fb-261122-1.jpg]

PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has expressed confidence in having greater ties between the federal government and the Sarawak state government following a visit from Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) chairman Abang Johari Openg at his house this morning.

Anwar praised GPS as a “pillar” in the unity government he leads together with Pakatan Harapan, Barisan Nasional and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), with support from MPs from Muda, Warisan and Parti Bangsa Malaysia.

“The relationship between the federal government and Sarawak will certainly strengthen plans to build a better Malaysia,” he said in a Facebook post.

GPS and GRS had initially backed Perikatan Nasional chairman Muhyiddin Yassin as prime minister following the inconclusive results of last Saturday’s general election, in which no coalition or party won a simple majority to form the government.

The two Borneo coalitions eventually said they would follow the King’s wish for a unity government.
