Be strong opposition, break my personal record, Rafizi tells PN
Posted by: superadmin - 12-05-2022, 09:44 AM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

PETALING JAYA: PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli has challenged Perikatan Nasional, as the opposition, to beat his personal record of being locked up and sued for speaking up against corruption and abuse of power.

Rafizi encouraged PN to be a strong opposition and expose any corruption and abuse of power by Anwar Ibrahim’s administration.

“If there’s any abuse of power or corruption on our part, expose them like I did before. If possible, to the point of breaking my record of being put into lockup multiple times and sued 16 times. Better if you can beat that,” he said in a video on TikTok.

He said those who were unhappy with the formation of Anwar’s unity government should ask PN chairman Muhyiddin Yassin and PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang about the decision to turn down the King’s proposal to form a unity government with Pakatan Harapan.

Multiple cities ease requirements for COVID-19 testing, as residents start to stockpile self-test kits
[Image: 6ee0d5f9-58ca-4b40-b24a-bb5a4be40f34.jpeg]

At least 10 major Chinese cities have announced the ending of requirements for the checking of 48-hour valid COVID-19 test results for riding public transport. Some cities have also ended testing requirements for entering public venues as many localities continued to optimize their epidemic responses over the weekend.

Cities adjusting policies include Chengdu, Tianjin, Dalian, Shijiazhuang and Shenzhen.

Shenzhen, the technology and manufacturing hub in South China's Guangdong Province, issued a statement early Saturday, confirming that residents will no longer need to provide nucleic acid test certificates when entering public places such as pharmacies, parks, and outdoor tourist attractions, as well as taking public transports, but will still need to scan a venue code to check in, and show their green health code. Residents will still need to show nucleic acid test results when visiting farmer's markets.

The megacity Guangzhou has also lifted a number of restrictions, including ending test result requirements for pharmacies.

Corrupt contractors, civil servants work in ‘cartels’, says MACC
Posted by: superadmin - 12-04-2022, 08:17 PM - Forum: Stop Corruptions - No Replies

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has revealed that corrupt contractors and civil servants work in “cartels” to embezzle money from government projects.

Its senior director of the special operations division Tan Kang Sai said recent raids in Selangor found that the officers involved received kickbacks based on the value of the projects.

He said the cases involved senior and junior officers, including presidents of two local councils, the police and other departments.

Applauding the stand of the unity government against corruption and to uphold good governance, Tan said this should serve as a reminder and warning for all civil servants to maintain their integrity and carry out their duties responsibly.

Sports minister Hannah Yeoh must focus on racial disparity: sports analyst
Posted by: superadmin - 12-04-2022, 07:24 PM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

[Image: 15092022-KUL-Sukma-5ribu_Meter_Wanita-Alif_Omar.JPG]

KUALA LUMPUR – Local sports analyst Mohd Sadek Mustaffa hopes newly-minted Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh will tackle the racial disparity issue that persists within the sports industry.

He explained that many young athletes are isolated to a specific type of sports based on their racial background.

“If we are going to talk about a unity government, the new minister needs to peel the layers of racial disparities within the sports industry,” he told The Vibes.

“For example, youth programmes involving training and skills institutions under the Youth and Sports Ministry are mostly inhabited by the Malays, up to 95%.

“To what extent will the new minister be able to attract other races into these institutions and ensure there is balance in social and economic equality?”

Radzi: Rafizi’s silence on Anwar taking up finance post himself is deafening
Posted by: superadmin - 12-04-2022, 05:27 PM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

FORMER senior education minister Datuk Dr Mohd Radzi Jidin has taken a swipe at newly minted Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli for his muted stance on Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim assuming the dual role of Prime Minister (PM)-cum-Finance Minister.

The Bersatu-Perikatan Nasional (PN) MP for Putrajaya went on to cite a Facebook post by Rafizi on Sept 16, 2015 whereby the Pandan MP had filed a Private Bill to enact an act that prevented a PM from appointing himself as the Finance Minister.

The bill which was tabled during the administration of incarcerated ex-premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak did not see the light of the day.

Kit Siang feels the pain at DAP’s grassroots for over-compromising but …
Posted by: superadmin - 12-04-2022, 05:23 PM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

IS Anwar’s government a beginning of new political era or is it a false dawn? This is the most important question of the 15th General Election (GE15) on Nov 19.

I fully support the DAP’s secretary-general Anthony Loke Siew Fook in taking a stand prior to the formation of Anwar Ibrahim’s coalition government, pledging DAP’s unconditional support to the Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as Prime Minister (PM).

But I can understand the frustrations, unhappiness and disappointments from DAP members, supporters and voters who felt that there was no fair reflection in the Cabinet composition based on DAP’s voting and parliamentary representation and this must be noted.

I was not a candidate in the GE15 but I have been to eight states and clocked some 15,000 kilometres in the two weeks of the election campaign.

Why so stubborn, Fahmi flays Perikatan for defying Agong on unity govt
Posted by: superadmin - 12-04-2022, 05:18 PM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

KUALA LUMPUR – The unity government proposed by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong was meant to reunite Malaysians after an election period that saw certain quarters employing rhetoric that left the country divided.

This was the assessment made by Pakatan Harapan (PH) communication director Fahmi Fadzil, who noted that despite this, a certain party had stubbornly refused to accede to the king’s advice.

While not mentioning any names, Fahmi was ostensibly referring to Perikatan Nasional (PN), the sole coalition which has opted not to join the unity government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Speaking in an interview with Sinar Harian, the Lembah Pantai MP noted how PN had rejected an olive branch held out by Anwar, adding that the public can judge which party had publicly disobeyed His Majesty.

Umno man calls for RCI on RM600bil spent by Muhyiddin’s govt
Posted by: superadmin - 12-04-2022, 05:10 PM - Forum: Politics - Replies (12)

PETALING JAYA: Umno Supreme Council member Isham Jalil has called for a royal commission of inquiry (RCI) to probe the apparent expenditure of RM600 billion by former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin’s administration.

He said this was necessary as the people deserve to know how Perikatan Nasional (PN) funded its election campaign for the general election (GE15).

Isham added that an RCI was necessary to investigate in detail how such a huge amount of money was spent since the expenditure was done during the emergency period and Parliament was not able to provide a check and balance having been suspended at the time.

“We saw that they (PN) spent a lot of money for GE15. Therefore, people want to know the source of all that money.

“Was the money from the taxpayers’ RM600 billion? This should not be happening,” Isham told FMT.

Epic statement from Zahid: Muhyiddin must emulate DAP’s grand sacrifice
Posted by: superadmin - 12-04-2022, 01:45 PM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

IN the bizarre world of politics where best of friends can become foes overnight – and worst of enemies can become best of friends the very next –  newly minted Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has showered his praises on DAP for prioritising national interest more than party and individual interests.

Unfortunately, such dignified qualities are seemingly lacking in former premier and Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin with the latter even showing disrespect to the royal institution in Malaysia by being power-crazed.

“Muhyiddin and his allies need to be ashamed of being seen as too power-crazed to the extent of disputing the decisions of the institution of the Malay Rulers,” the UMNO president who is now the second most powerful person in Malaysia penned in a recent Facebook post.

“(He) needs to emulate DAP which is more concerned with the interests of the nation than the interests of the party and individual (leaders) in moving forward to succeed in the unity government proposed by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.”

Unisex salon ban: tackle issue with wisdom, T’ganu told
Posted by: superadmin - 12-04-2022, 12:00 PM - Forum: Stop Racism and Religious Bigotry - No Replies

[Image: 31052021_-_Hours_before_the_lockdown_-_b...RAF_-1.jpg]

KUALA LUMPUR – The Terengganu government has been urged to handle the ban on unisex salons with wisdom to prevent tarnishing the reputation of the Islamic religion.

National Dakwah Council chairman, Prof Emeritus Datuk Mahmood Zuhdi Abd Majid, said though the decision should be supported, the position of non-Muslim business owners who have suffered losses as a result of the prohibition must also be considered.

He said the Terengganu government should find a suitable solution or give flexibility to non-Muslim unisex salon operators based on individual circumstances.

“This is so that we are not antagonised by non-Muslims in implementing basic laws and the Islamic culture in our society,” he told The Vibes’ Bahasa Malaysia sister publication, Getaran.

He explained that immediate implementation would be inappropriate in a country as culturally and religiously diverse as Malaysia.
