China’s pharmaceutical sector is scrambling to boost market supplies as demand surges for fever and cold drugs after the relaxing of epidemic control measures.

Skyrocketing demand has stretched supplies and pushed up prices. Local governments and drug suppliers are working to stabilize inventory and urging consumers not to hoard medications.

A press conference of the Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism of the State Council was held in Beijing on Thursday, during which a new guideline on home quanrantine was issued, together with a list of recommended drugs including ibuprofen, aspirin and Lianhua Qingwen.

Opening our eyes to see the potential of eco-tourism
Posted by: superadmin - 12-09-2022, 10:20 AM - Forum: Travels - Replies (2)

ECO-tourism is not just closely interrelated between tourism players and natural sustainability, preserving and conserving natural resources, natural forests and watershed forests.

It is about the harmony and sensitivity between one’s soul, heart and mind with nature and its Creator.

Quoting TIES (The International Society Ecotourism Society), eco-tourism is defined as “responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment, sustains the well-being of the local people, and involves interpretation and education.”

Being a nature lover, I have invested heavily into eco-tourism, and setting up a number of eco-resorts, naming them after my children. I see the long-term potential of this industry.

Therefore, we need to preserve our rich heritage – the Malaysian rainforests which, according to CNN Travel, are estimated to be over 130 million years old when the dinosaurs were still roaming on the earth. Our tropical rainforests are known to the world to be even “older than their counterparts in the Amazon or the Congo.”

Scandal sniffer Rafizi digs deeper into Sapura’s Shahril remuneration, incentive package
[Image: Rafizi-Sapura.jpg]

UNDETTERED by a defamation suit by former Sapura Energy Bhd CEO and managing director Tan Sri Shahril Shamsuddin, newly minted Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli has filed a third-party discovery application to seek Shahril’s remuneration and incentive package as paid by Sapura Energy.

This is one of the two applications filed by Rafizi at the Kuala Lumpur Civil Sessions Court with the other being an application to amend his defence statement.

The latest development was revealed by Rafizi’s lawyer Navpreet Singh to theedgemarkets..com following case management before Sessions Court judge Lailatul Zuraida Harron @ Haron yesterday (Dec 8).

“Our firm filed the discovery application on Nov 24 where Rafizi is seeking discovery of certain documents in respect of TS Shahril’s remuneration and incentive package as paid by Sapura Energy during his tenure as CEO,” he told the business portal.

YOURSAY | Anwar needs a M'sian agenda, not a Bumiputera one
Posted by: superadmin - 12-09-2022, 09:43 AM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

Proarte: We should focus on not talking so much about race but focus on development, poverty alleviation, and education.

We cannot alter the mindset of the Malays overnight. This has been immorally fashioned by their corrupt leaders for generations with the economic plight of the B40 Malays being blamed on the Chinese, who in their minds have taken more than their fair share of Malaysia’s wealth.

“Malaysian”, unfortunately in Malaysia, has been defined by the Malay supremacists and Kleptocrats who dominate the politics in this country to mean non-Malay, particularly Chinese interests.

The notion of “inclusiveness” is seen as a threat to the Malays who feel comfortable with a “Malay only” agenda even though the sad reality is this ‘Ketuanan’ (supremacist) policy has benefited mainly the elites who robbed in the name of the Malays and mismanaged the economy for the past 50 years.

For the sake of the Malays in the long run, a Malaysian agenda needs to be developed which harnesses the strengths of the whole nation. Intuitively, racism and discrimination cannot be good for society.

This is something Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim understands and dealing with massive leakages is his priority. A better-managed economy will improve the economic plight of the B40 Malays and will automatically lead to less manipulation by the supremacists and less distrust of the non-Malays.

Chinese and Indians are vital for our country and its long-term stability and so the idea that Anwar needs a “Bumiputera agenda” to the exclusion of a “non-Bumiputera agenda” is a foolhardy one.

A progressive and reformist government needs to address the "agendas" of all its people in its varying needs and complexities.

PN’s Padang Serai win not a rebuke against unity govt, says analyst
Posted by: superadmin - 12-09-2022, 09:39 AM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

PETALING JAYA: A political analyst has dismissed the claim by Perikatan Nasional chairman Muhyiddin Yassin that the coalition’s massive win in Padang Serai and slim loss in Tioman are indicative of the voters’ distrust in the unity government.

Azmil Tayeb of Universiti Sains Malaysia said it was hard to say if the two election results were a rebuke against the government as it had just been formed.

“I think the results are just a continuation of the voting trend we saw in this (general) election where most of the Malay majority areas went to PN,” he told FMT.

PN won 73 seats in GE15.

Sacked Kedah Amanah chief won’t join PAS or PN
Posted by: superadmin - 12-09-2022, 09:25 AM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

PETALING JAYA: Former Kedah Amanah chief Phahrolrazi Zawawi, who was sacked by the party before the recent general election, will not join PAS or Perikatan Nasional.

Instead, he said, he and about 200 supporters would join another Pakatan Harapan component party, but he declined to identify it.

“We are not interested in returning to PAS or joining any party in PN,” he told FMT.

Amanah is a splinter of PAS.

Phahrolrazi, who is the assemblyman for Alor Mengkudu, was sacked by his party after he said Kedah Amanah leaders would boycott the PH candidate for Jerai in GE15 as they were dissatisfied with DAP’s choice of its deputy state chief, Zulhazmi Shariff, for the seat.

Expect extreme politicking if Anwar loses vote of confidence, says expert
Posted by: superadmin - 12-09-2022, 07:37 AM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

PETALING JAYA: A constitutional law expert has warned that the country will see extreme politicking should Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim lose the vote of confidence when Parliament convenes on Dec 19.

Speaking at a forum organised by Taylors University, Shad Saleem Faruqi said the Federal Constitution states that Anwar has the option to resign if he loses the vote of confidence.

In this scenario, Shad said the King has the discretion to decide if another MP can command majority support in Parliament.

“In the meantime, the resigned prime minister may be asked to continue as a caretaker prime minister.
