US officials’ warning to China-Solomon Islands cooperation a serious provocation, reveals ‘hooliganism’ and ‘bullying’
The US' so-called warning to any permanent "China military presence" in the Solomon Islands was a serious provocation to both China and the South Pacific nation as two sovereign states, fully revealing US "hooliganism" and "bullying" in abducting South Pacific nations into its anti-China chariot, Chinese analysts said on Saturday, following the US delegation's visit to the region.
The US is attaching greater strategic importance to South Pacific nations amid China-US competition, and the region is not only a significant part of the US' Indo-Pacific Strategy but also serves as a key anti-China frontline after the US loses its "first island chain," Chinese analysts said, urging regional countries to be alert to US motives.

PONTIAN – Indonesia’s move to ban exports of its palm oil starting Thursday next week is expected to have a massive impact on the global edible oils and fats market.
Plantation Industries and Commodities Deputy Minister II Datuk Seri Wee Jeck Seng said the move is expected to boost prices of palm oil and competing oils in the international market since Indonesia is a top producer and exporter of palm oil.
He said last year, Indonesia’s palm oil accounted for 59% and 56% of the world’s palm oil production and exports respectively, adding that Indonesian palm oil exports represented 30% of total global oils and fats exports.
“As such, this drastic step taken by Indonesia will definitely have a massive impact on other countries, especially major palm oil importers such as China, India and the European Union.

PETALING JAYA: Johor DAP chief Liew Chin Tong has called on all political forces against Umno’s “court cluster” to immediately set fair rules ahead of the looming general election (GE15).
The state opposition leader said all responsible political actors should come to a consensus as to what constitutes fair play when contesting in GE15 rather than allowing this “court cluster” to set the pace and potentially regain power in the federal government.
“We don’t have to allow a general election to happen according to the court cluster’s ‘get-out-of-jail’ timetable.
“All political actors and voters should find ways to foil this cluster’s schedule.
“What is most important now is for all political forces against this cluster, including Umno leaders who do not wish to see the return of Najib Razak and Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, to work out a set of democratic rules to ensure fair elections and fair processes governing the formation of the government on election night,” he said on Facebook.

KUALA LUMPUR: The government’s decision to set up a special committee to protect vulnerable groups proves that women, family and community development minister Rina Harun, is not doing her job, a former deputy minister said.
Hannah Yeoh said that it was the ministry’s job to look out for vulnerable groups.
“If a committee is needed for this, it shows that the minister (Rina) is not doing her job as protecting the vulnerable is part of the ministry’s job scope,” said Yeoh, who was the deputy minister for that portfolio from 2018 to 2020.

KANGAR, April 23 — Ketereh Umno division chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa is confident that there is still room for cooperation between Umno and PAS through Muafakat Nasional (MN) to face the 15th general election (GE15).
The Ketereh MP said the current deadlock between the two parties was only temporary and efforts to strengthen ties should be continued.
“As a senior politician who has faced PAS in general elections many times, I find MN as a gift from God when Umno and PAS can work together.
“We cannot give up trying to maintain good relations between the two parties even though the ties have been loosened,” he told reporters after paying a courtesy call on PAS spiritual leader Datuk Hashim Jasin at the Perlis PAS Complex today.
