Look at your own backyard, Umno man chides Kelantan deputy MB
Posted by: superadmin - 03-10-2022, 08:00 AM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

PETALING JAYA: A state Umno leader has slammed PAS vice-president Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah for saying that Singapore is more developed than Malaysia because it has never been ruled by Umno and its Barisan Nasional (BN) allies.

According to an Astro Awani report, Kelantan Umno youth chief Noor Hariri Mohamed Noor described Amar’s remarks as a “foolish joke”.

“Amar’s remarks at a ceramah show that he is desperate to find fault with Umno because he knows that Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) popularity has declined,” he said.

He pointed out that PAS had been governing Kelantan for over 30 years and yet the state was in a rut.

“Kelantan PAS has done a bad job in administering the state. In all these years, it failed to address issues such as clean water supply, the lack of job opportunities and investments, as well as the drug problem,” he said.

Somewhere a man has lost his son
He can’t begin to understand
He takes a knee and says a prayer
For what is one without the other
And in the cold and pouring rain
He calls aloud a single name
And in his heart he feels the pain
For what is one without the other

Somewhere someone has lost a love
They can’t begin to understand
Why every thing they see reminds them of
Why they are one without the other

Somewhere a son must say goodbye
He can’t begin to reason why
 While everyone around him cries
He’ll be one without the other

Chinese President Xi Jinping had a virtual summit with French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Tuesday in Beijing, supporting France and Germany in promoting a balanced, effective and sustainable European security framework for the interests and lasting security of Europe.

Xi emphasized the need to jointly support the peace talks between Russia and Ukraine, while encouraging the two sides to maintain the momentum of negotiations and calling for maximum restraint to prevent a massive humanitarian crisis.

Experts said that the latest talks between Chinese and European leaders showed that China and Europe share similar stances and interests on the Ukraine situation, signaling that the two sides can effectively coordinate and cooperate on solving the Ukraine crisis and injecting new hope for an endgame of this crisis. As China also shares strategic mutual trust with Russia, it is expected to play a constructive role in helping tackle the current crisis, experts said.

KUALA LUMPUR – Top shuttler Lee Zii Jia sent world number 29 Mark Caljouw home after defeating him 19-21, 21-13, 21-8 in his first round of the German Open tournament at the Westenergie Sporthalle in Muelheim An Der Ruhr earlier today.

Both players went toe-to-toe in the first set but the Dutchman managed to prevail and win the opening set.

However, Zii Jia bounced back and claimed the second set, forcing a showdown in the third set.

Many youths in Johor don’t know they can now vote, says activist
Posted by: superadmin - 03-09-2022, 05:40 PM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

KOTA KINABALU: An Undi18 activist is concerned that young voters will not turn out in numbers for the Johor state elections this Saturday.

Qyira Yusri, co-founder and education director of Undi18, said she had been in Johor for more than a week talking to many youths who told her that they did not even know they were qualified to vote.

“They still think the minimum age is 21 (to be able to vote). They don’t even know that they are automatically registered,” she said at an online forum by Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs (IDEAS) called “Malaysia Outlook Conference 2022” today.

Qyira said she found out during her visit to remote areas in Johor like Felda settlements that there was no hype on the state elections.

Non-Malays not the only ones migrating
Posted by: superadmin - 03-09-2022, 09:49 AM - Forum: Stop Racism and Religious Bigotry - No Replies

From Murray Hunter

It has long been known that a significant number of non-Malays have migrated to other countries in search of more opportunities and a better life.

Names like Jimmy Choo, Tsai Ming-Liang, Kwen Liew, Zang Toi, Yuna, Bernard Chandran, Tan Hock Eng, Ng Yi-Ren, James Wan, Pua Khein-Seng and Penny Wong come up, just to name a few successful expatriate Malaysians.

In addition, there are thousands of expatriate Malaysians running or holding key positions in companies in Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Australia, and even the US.

Current statistics of the brain drain from Malaysia are difficult to come by, as it is a sensitive issue. What we do know is that the brain drain slightly decreased from 2016, and dramatically dropped when Pakatan Harapan won government in 2018 and the Covid restrictions began in 2020. However, recent media reports indicate that Malaysia’s brain drain is increasing at the rate of 6% per annum once again.
