PETALING JAYA: Former prime minister Najib Razak has labeled the Sheraton Move as an example of actions taken by those who are greedy for power.
He said this in a sharp rebuke to accusations by Bersatu leaders that Umno forced the dissolution of the Johor state assembly because it was greedy for power.
“Perikatan Nasional cannot keep accusing Umno of being power crazy when the coalition’s leader had ousted the Pakatan Harapan administration through the Sheraton Move.
“Dissolving the Johor state assembly and calling for an election is not being power crazy. Power crazy is betraying one’s own coalition partners and party founder to become the prime minister with the Sheraton Move,” he said in a Facebook post today.

PETALING JAYA: The biggest news story of 1979 – “shoot on sight” new Vietnamese boat people landing on Malaysian shores – was breaking but the budding journalist responsible was restless.
Rajan Moses told the world about the stinging threat by then deputy prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad as Malaysia was caught up with one of the world’s biggest humanitarian crises.
The story by the rookie journalist of the national news agency, Bernama, shook the globe on June 15. Widespread condemnation erupted.
Moses reported Mahathir threatened new arrivals would be shot; the estimated 75,000 refugees in camps would be put back to sea; and Malaysia was building a fleet of boats to facilitate their expulsion.
Moses’s opening paragraph stated the authorities planned to shoot refugees if they did not stop coming into Malaysian shores.

Ahead of state polls, a Johor Bersatu division may collapse after exodus by disgruntled members to Warisan
JOHOR BARU, Feb 5 ― The Tanjung Piai Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia division is said to be on the brink of collapse following the mass resignation of several key members who are expected to join Parti Warisan Sabah, according to sources.
It was learnt that the exodus, planned a week ago following the resignation of two other Bersatu state leaders, included the division’s deputy chief, secretary, committee members and also ordinary members.
A former Tanjung Piai Bersatu source, who had recently left the party, confirmed that more than 100 of the division’s leaders and members will quit, citing a loss of confidence in the party‘s leadership as well as lack of direction.
