‘Cabinet reshuffle likely tomorrow, Zahid, Zaliha included in line-up’
Posted by: superadmin - 10-03-2023, 04:14 PM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is expected to announce a cabinet reshuffle tomorrow, nearly eleven months after the formation of this government in November last year.

Sources close to Putrajaya told Getaran, The Vibes’ Bahasa Malaysia sister portal, that the important announcement is expected to be made after the post-cabinet meeting.

According to information obtained by the sources, the matter needs to be announced before Anwar leaves for an official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) this Thursday.
“Previously, some said it would just be some small ‘changes’ but from the information I got, it is going to be a major overhaul,” said a source.

According to the sources, the move will involve several portfolios and major ministries, including the Home Ministry, the Human Resources Ministry, the Health Ministry and the Youth and Sports Ministry.

PAS must apologise for humiliating M’sian Chinese with “Apek seluar pendek” slur

PAS must apologise for dishonouring Islam, humiliating M’sian Chinese with “Apek seluar pendek” slur
[Image: MGF04092022_MUKTAMAR-HARI-KE-4-11-copy-681x454.jpg.webp]

I WISH to take to task PAS on the incident of one of its leaders disparaging our Chinese community in his use of the derogatory term apek seluar pendek which means a “Chinese wearing shorts.”

According to a news report in Malaysiakini, Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail has called out his Kedah counterpart Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor for disparaging the Chinese community and creating uneasiness in the Malay community just to canvass for votes in the Pelangai by-election.

Sanusi is no stranger to vulgarity in his statements which has made him – unfortunately – the most famous Malay politician at this time.

It is sad that Malays love this kind of foul-mouthed politician but they are used to this kind of culture from UMNO long before PAS itself discovers this effective method to popularity at the expense of the teachings of Islam, nation-building and the history of Chinese-Muslims being the protectors of Islam during the Cheng Ho-Parameswara Melaka times.

PETALING JAYA: M Saravanan of MIC and Hannah Yeoh of DAP are the latest names to have cropped up in current talks about an impending Cabinet reshuffle.

Saravanan could be making a return to the Cabinet, while Yeoh could be moved out of youth and sports to another ministry.

The changes would be made for political reasons, according to a well-placed political source.

Saravanan, who is deputy president of MIC, would be included as a means of shoring up government support from the Indian community, after an apparent swing in Indian votes to the opposition at the six state elections in August.

NEW DELHI: Alphabet Inc’s Google will begin to make its Chromebook laptops in India, the latest among global tech companies to expand assembly in the key growth market.

Google is partnering with HP Inc to manufacture Chromebooks in the South Asian country, Alphabet chief executive officer Sundar Pichai said Monday on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The move will help Google boost supply in India and compete more effectively with Windows computers from companies such as Dell Technologies Inc and Asustek Computer Inc. It’s also another win for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s US$2 billion incentive plan to have tech giants make India their production base.

The country of 1.4 billion people has been expanding its electronics manufacturing sector as companies diversify production beyond China amid growing Washington-Beijing tensions.

Ramasamy: “It’s not just about brain drain but the stifling of talent formation”
Posted by: superadmin - 10-02-2023, 01:56 PM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

[Image: P-Ramasamy-Penang-Deputy-Chief-Minister-...19-FMT.jpg]

A FORMER DAP leader said while Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has spoken about the brain drain issue and ways to overcome it by empowering the Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp) nothing concrete and serious is done in overcoming the loss of talents in Malaysia.

He said while brain drain should be stemmed by rendering the educational system more equitable by way of removing obstacles in the form of non-Malay participation, bringing back Malaysians who have gone abroad seems to be a “Herculean” task.

“How do you entice Malaysians who have migrated by giving them opportunities when the colossal elephant in the room – ethnic discrimination of the non-Malays – remains [unaddressed]?” the former Penang deputy chief minister asked.

“Opportunities denied to the non-Malays in the name of Malay hegemony have cost the country dearly in terms of the loss of talents and expertise.

“This is the reason why there is significant level of talent shortage in the country so much that high-tech multinational companies might find it difficult to locate in the country.”
