Gobind is the incumbent Selangor DAP chairman and Puchong MP, Ong is Bangi MP while Edry is the state assemblyman for Dusun Tua and one of the rising young politicians in the party.
Ronnie Liu, the incumbent Selangor DAP secretary, did not garner enough votes to qualify for the leadership line-up while Kampung Tunku representative Lim Yi Wei, a former aide to Tony Pua,

Elon Musk keeps fans guessing by tweeting mysterious Chinese poem |

Hong Kong/Seoul (CNN Business)Elon Musk is known for setting the internet ablaze with his cryptic tweets. Now he's doing it in another language.
The Tesla (TSLA) and SpaceX CEO tweeted an ancient Chinese poem Monday night. It's not clear what reference Musk intended, but the tweet, which was titled "Humankind," included a composition known as the "Quatrain of Seven Steps." The poem is famous in China, and refers to a spat between brothers.
It is often attributed to Cao Zhi, son of an ancient Chinese warlord, who was said to live during the Three Kingdoms era (220 to 280 AD). Legend has it that Cao's elder brother, a newly crowned king, was jealous of Cao's talent. Suspecting that his brother was trying to usurp his rule, the king then forced him to write a poem within the amount of time it took to walk just seven steps.
The rhyme translates into English as follows:
"Beanstalks are burned to cook beans
The beans weep in the pot
We grow from the same root
Why should we boil each other with such impatience?"

Pakatan targets 18-seat victory to regain power in Melaka |

MELAKA – Pakatan Harapan (PH) is confident of winning at least 18 of the 28 seats in the upcoming Melaka election, enough to secure a majority to form a new government.
Melaka PKR chief Datuk Halim Bachik said this projection is based on the sentiments of voters on the ground and their acceptance of the coalition.
He added that the strict standard operating procedures, which bar physical campaigning, are unlikely to hamper PH’s chances of bagging a second victory in just slightly more than three years in the coastal state.
“For PKR alone, we are fully convinced that we will win a minimum of six or seven seats. God willing, we can even secure nine,” he said in a virtual press conference today.
“When I go to the ground, for example, to Sg Rambai, the people accept us. They didn’t want the election, but it was forced because of the conflict among the government assemblymen.

Keluarga Malaysia showing cracks, far from being united, says Guan Eng |

PETALING JAYA: The Keluarga Malaysia initiative by Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob is beginning to show cracks with the leading parties in the ruling coalition engaging in a vicious and open fight in the Melaka state polls campaign, says DAP.
Besides this, party secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said the heavily lopsided allocations in Budget 2022 for the different communities gave Malaysians the impression that the concept is beginning to look like it is mere lip service.
He said the attacks and counter-attacks using words like “stupid and evil” as well as challenges thrown to bring down the Johor state government also raise questions on the fragility of the federal government.
“With this intense animosity displayed by the leaders of the coalition, who are fighting like cats and dogs, how can the prime minister unite Malaysians and ensure political stability under his Keluarga Malaysia initiative?” he said in his speech at the Selangor DAP convention today.

MELAKA – The humbling defeat suffered by Barisan Nasional (BN) in May 2018 at federal and several state levels has served as a lesson to coalition candidates in the Melaka election not to underestimate their rivals.
This especially rings true for Umno’s Datuk Khaidhirah Abu Zahar – the daughter of former state chief minister (CM) Datuk Seri Abu Zahar Ithnin – who will be making her election debut in the Rim constituency.
The late Abu Zahar, who led the state from May 1997 to December 1999, had also once served as the Melaka assembly speaker.
In an interview with The Vibes, Khaidhirah – or more popularly known as Dira – said she will not take things for granted or put herself in the comfort zone just yet, despite indications pointing to an easy victory.

ALOR STAR – The PAS-led Kedah government will neither issue new licences nor renew existing licences for gambling businesses, including all 4D lottery businesses, in the state starting next year.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhamad Sanusi Md Nor said apart from gambling licences, the state government will also restrict the sale of alcohol in public, and it will only be allowed to be sold to non-Muslim consumers.
“This decision was made at the state executive council meeting last week, and we agreed that local authorities throughout the state of Kedah will no longer issue licences to gambling businesses.
“We want to create Kedah as a gambling-free state because we are aware that gambling is the cause of the collapse of family institutions and the nation’s civilisation,” he said at a press conference today.

Don’t forget you were behind Sheraton Move, Puad tells Muhyiddin |

PETALING JAYA: A senior Umno leader has reminded Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin that he led the forces that caused the fall of the Pakatan Harapan government in the Sheraton Move, asking if this meant that the former prime minister can be considered evil (jahat).
“Former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin has accused Umno of being evil for causing the fall of its own government in Melaka.
“So does this mean he was also evil in causing the fall of PH last year via the Sheraton Move? Obviously, he did that because he wanted to become the prime minister,” Umno Supreme Council member Puad Zarkashi said in a Facebook post today.
Puad said similarly, it was former chief minister Idris Haron who colluded with PKR to make the Melaka government fall as he had been promised the position by the opposition Pakatan Harapan but it backfired when the assembly was dissolved.

Muhyiddin’s BN jibe shows his hypocrisy, says Zahid |

PETALING JAYA: Barisan Nasional chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has slammed former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin over the latter’s dismissive comments of the coalition’s 61-year rule of the country.
Zahid, who is also Umno president, said Muhyiddin’s claim that BN’s “time had come to an end” vindicated the party’s decision — made at its annual general meeting — not to work with Bersatu in the next general election.
“It also highlights Bersatu’s hypocrisy when it comes to BN and Umno,” he said in a Facebook post.
Zahid went on to say that he was disappointed that Muhyiddin had hurled such an insult at BN as the Bersatu president had made his name in the political arena with the help and support of the BN grassroots.

Guan Eng scoffs at Timah decision while KL liquor ban still on |

PETALING JAYA: DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng has dismissed MCA president Wee Ka Siong’s description of the resolution of the Timah whisky branding controversy as a demonstration of the government’s Keluarga Malaysia concept.
Wee had been quoted in news reports as saying the Cabinet reached its decision “in the spirit of Keluarga Malaysia”.
Lim pointed out that the decision on the Timah name came while a ban on the sale of alcohol at Chinese medicine halls and sundry shops in Kuala Lumpur was still in place.
He said the ban “clearly interferes in the traditional business practices and customary lifestyle of non-Muslims” and was contrary to the Keluarga Malaysia concept and the multiracial and multi-cultural character of Kuala Lumpur.
