PETALING JAYA: A DAP MP has urged the police to probe Abdul Hadi Awang over a preconceived plan to create political instability, after the PAS president said the plot to topple the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government had started ever since it won the last elections.
Klang MP Charles Santiago said police were usually quick to investigate any alleged attempt to create political instability, although he did not see the same zeal in probing Hadi over his comments.
Santiago said the change in government in late February last year had led to the stock market going down, investors staying away and the people’s vote being nullified due to the “coup”.
“So why wasn’t Hadi, who seems to know more, called in for questioning?” he asked in a statement today.

Sarawak DCM: PAS, Umno’s demand for Putrajaya to appeal ‘Allah’ decision ridiculous |

KUCHING, March 11 — Sarawak Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri James Masing today criticised Umno and PAS for urging the government to appeal the decision by the High Court to allow a judicial review by a Sarawakian Christian to use “Allah” in her religious education.
Masing branded the demand as ridiculous, especially by any political party in a multi-religious and multi-racial country like Malaysia.
“It is my hope that we should allow men of religion and court to decide on religious issues and not politicians,” Masing who is also Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) president told Malay Mail said when asked to respond to the statement issued by Muafakat Nasional (MN).
He reminded the two parties that demanding the federal government to go against the court’s judgment is tantamount to seeking a review of Article 11 of the Federal Constitution that allows for freedom of religion in the country.

When will Proton make an electric car? |

Earlier this month, Proton posted its best monthly sales figure in seven years, delivering 11,873 cars in February, and capturing more than a quarter of the Malaysian automotive market share.
This is welcome news as our national car brand had been plagued with problems since its inception. Most who purchased a Proton did so just because it, along with Perodua, offered the most affordable cars in the market.
But with its recent acquisition by Chinese auto giant Geely, the tide seems to be turning. Both the Proton X50 and X70 were unveiled amidst much hoopla and surprisingly enough, they managed to justify it, thrilling and satisfying customers.
I can’t remember a time when a Proton product was lusted over by thousands across the nation. Sure, the X50 and X70 are essentially just rebranded Geely Binyue and Geely Boyue, respectively, but they’re still a welcome addition to the Proton stable, which has needed a shot in the arm (or several), for a while now.
This makes me ask the question that’s been on the minds of some since Geely’s acquisition of Proton: When will it start making electric cars?
It’s a natural next step.

Retrenched because of Covid-19, ex-hotel workers in Penang provide delicious packed meals at W. Kitchen
GEORGE TOWN, March 11 — When The Northam All Suite Hotel closed its doors last June for a massive two-year renovation, most of its employees were laid off.
Wang Chen Yee, 54, who was the general manager, decided to start a small food business and roped in some of the former hotel employees.
“We were retrenched so I was thinking of what to do next and I wanted to do something to help those who are talented but with nowhere to go,” he said.
This saw the birth of W. Kitchen in late June, a catering and lunch box business located in a shophouse at Arratoon Road in George Town.

Korkor: Who is Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin to giant-slayer Permatang Pauh MP Nurul Izzah Anwar?
Remember she slew the rich ex-minister Raja Nong Chik Zainal Abidin in Lembah Pantai and ended his political career? Zuraida’s political career’s end was signed and sealed the moment she party-hopped.
As a voter in the Ampang parliamentary constituency and the Bukit Antarabangsa state constituency, this will be the best present for us after having been betrayed by these two turncoats, Zuraida and International Trade and Industry Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali.
We will come out in force to assist in the campaigning and will also ensure that voters will turn out to vote for Nurul if she is fielded here. Calling all Ampang voters!

KUALA LUMPUR, March 10 — The idea of Umno forming a pact with Pakatan Harapan (PH) for the next general election (GE15) is not impossible, veteran Umno politician Tan Sri Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah said.
Fondly known as Ku Li, the Umno advisory board chairman however said only God will know if the pact could deliver victory.
“How would I know (if Umno working with PH can win the general election)?
“Only God will know. Nothing is impossible if God wants us to win, but there are many things which must be on the ‘menu’ when we face GE15,” he said today during an interview with The Malaysian Insight broadcasted on Facebook.

High Court quashes govt’s 1986 ban on ‘Allah’ use by Christians, affirms Sarawakian Bumiputera’s right to religion and non-discrimination
KUALA LUMPUR, March 10 ― The High Court today ruled that the Malaysian government's directive issued in 1986 with a total ban on the use of the word “Allah” in Christian publications is unconstitutional and invalid, and also declared orders to affirm Sarawakian Bumiputera Christian Jill Ireland Lawrence Bill's right to not be discriminated against and practise her faith.
Justice Datuk Nor Bee Ariffin, who has since been elevated to be a Court of Appeal judge, granted three of the specific constitutional reliefs sought by the Sarawakian native of the Melanau tribe.
The three orders granted by the judge include a declaration that it is Jill Ireland's constitutional right under the Federal Constitution's Article 3, 8, 11 and 12 to import the publications in exercise of her rights to practise religion and right to education.
The other two declarations granted by the judge today are that a declaration under Article 8 that Jill Ireland is guaranteed equality of all persons before the law and is protected from discrimination against citizens on the grounds of religion in the administration of the law ― specifically the Printing Presses and Publications Act 1984 and Customs Act 1967), and a declaration that government directive issued by the Home Ministry's publication control's division via a circular dated December 5, 1986 is unlawful and unconstitutional.

PETALING JAYA: Najib Razak has been convicted and Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is facing numerous charges, so who will be the man to lead the Barisan Nasional campaign in the next general election? If the pundits are right, Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan could be the pointman for the coalition.
Speculation is rife that the coalition members have drawn up Plan B, which involves replacing Umno president Zahid with Mohamad, better known as Tok Mat.
“Members from MIC and MCA are suggesting that Tok Mat be the next choice as part of Plan B. There are some concerns over the court charges,” a source told FMT.
The source said there are fears that Zahid may be bogged down by the court cases, which are ongoing even during the emergency.

PETALING JAYA: Lim Guan Eng has challenged the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to probe Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin for allegedly offering Tebrau MP Steven Choong an official position in return for supporting the Perikatan Nasional government.
The DAP secretary-general questioned if the anti-graft agency would “demonstrate its independence” by probing Muhyiddin, adding that MACC should at least state that party-hopping in exchange for favours was a corrupt practice.
He said Choong’s revelation was reminiscent of an audio recording released last year purportedly of Muhyiddin offering government posts and positions in exchange for support.
“Umno’s Gua Musang MP Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah also revealed that he rejected an offer by the prime minister to be Petronas’ chairman because it was unconstitutional.
