Wangsa Maju Umno chief Shafie Abdullah said 90 of them met Zahid at the party’s headquarters here, while the remaining 40 voiced their support for the Umno president via text message.
Shafie also urged Umno division chiefs who had called for Zahid’s resignation to “come back” so that the party could be united.

PETALING JAYA: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) chairman Abang Johari Openg says the coalition accepts the apology issued by DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook earlier today.
“We accept the apology with an open heart,” said the Sarawak premier in a statement.
At a press conference, he noted that the apology proves that “we were right all along”.
He added that GPS would abide by the decree issued by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, for a unity government to be established.
He also congratulated Pakatan Harapan chairman Anwar Ibrahim, who was just sworn in as the country’s 10th prime minister at Istana Negara.
Earlier today, Loke said he had a “friendly discussion” with Abang Johari and Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) president Dr Sim Kui Hian.
Loke also said he had apologised to the GPS leaders over past statements made by DAP that offended the Sarawak government and its people.
DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng has also apologised to Abang Johari and the GPS government for past remarks that might have offended them.

KOTA KINABALU: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) deputy chairman Jeffrey Kitingan has come out in support of a unity government led by Pakatan Harapan (PH).
The president of Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR), a component of GRS, said his party was on board with the King’s proposal to have a unity government to resolve the political impasse.
“A unity government is the best solution I can see right now. However, this government must include the elected governments of Sabah and Sarawak for it to be effective and truly inclusive.

PETALING JAYA: Annuar Musa’s claim that the then prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin gave Umno millions of ringgit to help the party during the 2020 Sabah elections has stirred up netizens into asking the source of the funds.
In a video posted on TikTok, the Ketereh Umno chief also said allegations that Perikatan Nasional chairman Muhyiddin intended to “kill” Umno were “false and fabricated”.
Facebook user Faisal Ismail questioned the origin of the funds that Muhyiddin supposedly gave to Umno.
“What a joker, where did ‘Abah’ get the money?” asked another user named Jepin. “MACC (Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission), please investigate.”
Muhyiddin used to refer to himself as “Abah” or father.

PAS’ influence seems nigh unstoppable: scholar |

KUALA LUMPUR – At the current rate, the growth of PAS’ influence in Malaysia’s political landscape as a leading force seems unstoppable, said a renowned academician in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.
Due to its strong grassroots for generations, PAS has been able to sustain and regenerate its position among the urban, semi-urban, and rural populations – and it could be flourishing further in the next five years.
“PAS listens to the voices on the ground. Many people are influenced by the religious groups, including their parents who are disillusioned with some national political leaders who have been highly questionable over time,” said Datuk Denison Jayasooria of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia’s (UKM) Institute of Ethnic Studies.

Conspiring BN MPs will enable Bersatu’s destruction of Umno |

From Ibrahim M Ahmad
MPs from Barisan Nasional (BN) who are opposed to the coalition joining forces with Pakatan Harapan (PH) to form the next government risk either being branded traitors or just gullible pawns in Bersatu’s mission to destroy Umno once and for all.
Despite winning nine seats less than PH in the 15th general election (GE15), Perikatan Nasional (PN), with Bersatu in the driver’s seat, is looking once again to usurp for itself the seat of power in Putrajaya, repeating what it did via the much-maligned Sheraton Move in March 2020.
This time, its enablers within BN are calling for Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to step down as Umno president and BN chairman, claiming he no longer has the moral authority to lead after the party and coalition’s annihilation in GE15.
Those calls are premature.
Whether or not Zahid continues to lead Umno beyond his present term of office will no doubt be a key issue at party elections. Under the party’s recently amended constitution, those elections must be held within the next six months.
Despite that, many are calling for Zahid to step down now.

KUALA LUMPUR – Barisan Nasional (BN) appears to be on the brink of a full blown internal crisis as Umno leaders hit back at fellow component party MCA after the latter called for Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s resignation.
Tension is already high within BN, with coalition members at odds over Zahid’s decision to negotiate and consider a pact with Pakatan Harapan (PH) to form the new government.
Earlier today, MCA secretary-general Datuk Chong Sin Woon accused Zahid, who is BN chairman and Umno president, of going against the collective decision made by the coalition Supreme Council and for not communicating its resolution “correctly” to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

Apologise for ‘treacherous’ rejection of Agong’s advice, army vets tell Muhyiddin, Hadi
KUALA LUMPUR – A non-governmental organisation representing retired armed forces personnel, the National Patriots’ Association (Patriot), has demanded a public apology from Perikatan Nasional (PN) leaders Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang for being “treacherous” in going against the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s advice to form a unity government.
In a statement, Patriot president Datuk Mohamed Arshad Raji said Muhyiddin’s public stance on the matter undermines the nation’s constitutional monarchy and sets a “very, very dangerous precedent.”
Arshad said Patriot takes very serious offence towards politicians who went against the king’s attempt to ensure the new government can be formed in the best interest of the nation and the public.

PETALING JAYA: Several Umno and Barisan Nasional component leaders are among the 10 MPs from the coalition who signed statutory declarations (SDs) backing Muhyiddin Yassin as prime minister, says a source in the know.
The 10 MPs, who have since retracted their support for the Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman, include those from Johor, Perak, Negeri Sembilan, and Sabah.
“There has been one Umno leader who has been very vocal against working with Pakatan Harapan,” the source told FMT.
“He led the other nine MPs in signing the SDs backing Muhyiddin. Some of these MPs are ‘big guns’.”
