GEORGE TOWN – There is no issue or problem concerning the allocation of seats between Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) for the upcoming state election, to be held on August 12, said Penang PH chairman Chow Kon Yeow.
He said several rounds of negotiations had been conducted with several agreements reached by both parties to ensure their victory in the state.
“We have held several meetings to discuss the allocation of seats. Until two weeks ago, only one seat has not been decided, but I am confident this too will be resolved by the central leadership of both parties.
“We will know the outcome soon...as negotiations are at the final stage,” he said in an interview with Bernama recently.

U-turns and empty promises, the trademark of politicians |

The upcoming state elections are vitally important to all the “players,” there is absolutely no doubt. That importance though, is not really targeting us, the real people who are actually going to be affected by the leadership that runs and manages these six states for the next five years; the “rakyat”.
The players I am referring to are politicians, their political parties, and their odd political coalitions.
Selangor and Penang are the crown jewels that PH have held for 15 years now. Selangor is the highest contributor of GDP in Malaysia, and Penang contributed 29% of the country’s total exports. So, we will see a lot of politicking to retain these two states.
PAS has held Kelantan for over 30 years and the populace there do not seem to mind them, despite muddy water from taps, and a GDP that only beats Perlis, the smallest state in Malaysia. The Kelantanese voters keep giving them landslide victories election after election.

Tickets for the six-show Taylor Swift tour in Singapore in March next year began selling online on Wednesday.
Just over an hour after the virtual ticket booth opened, more than 1.3 million eager fans, many Malaysians among them, were already in the queue.
A vast majority of them, including Malaysian fans, are going to be disappointed.
The national stadium in Singapore, where the concerts will be held, can accommodate about 55,000 people per show. Over six shows, only 330,000 will get to see her perform.
Tickets are priced at S$108 to S$348 (RM372 to RM1,200). At a more conservative average of RM500 a ticket, the organisers will rake in RM27.5 million per show, for a total of RM165 million over six performances.
That’s a lot of money to boost the economy.

Reasons to Know Why Students Need CIPD assignment Help? |

Some reasons why students need CIPD assignment help are 1) Time deadline: The deadline is usually very strict and it is hard for the students to meet the deadlines. And that is why hiring an agency will save a lot of their time. 2) The requirements: The requirements usually require a lot of research and extra hours. And that is why choosing the agency that has the knowledge and experience is the right choice. 3) Excessive assignments: The students have to do a lot of assignments at a time and that is why hiring an agency will save their time and take a lot of pressure off their shoulders. And the students have to search for the best service provider in their country or city. If someone is living in the UAE then finding the CIPD Assignment Help in UAE will not be tough for him.

“Give Anwar a chance, Malaysia!” |

MANY people out there who are expecting instant reforms from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim are left disappointed when these reforms did not come as fast as they had expected.
While there is nothing wrong with having grandiose expectations, Anwar must be given a reasonable time frame to do his job.
The Tambun MP is merely prime minister for seven months, and it is simply unreasonable to expect reforms to be completed within a short period of time.
If Malaysians can tolerate the twice former prime minister Mahathir Mohammed for first 22 years and later for 22 months, surely Anwar should be given at least one full term to deliver the reforms in various areas.
I agree there is a lot of expectations not just in Malaysia but outside the country for Anwar to steer the country out of the present doldrums brought about by the past governments.
It is not that he should not be criticised but surely an early definitive assessment of his role is a bit premature at this juncture.

M’sia cycles through political unrest once every decade: academic |

GEORGE TOWN – Malaysia has suffered from political unrest once in a cycle of every decade – starting from 1959 until 2018, says a Universiti Sains Malaysia political scientist.
Speaking in his maiden public lecture after he was conferred with a full professorship here, Prof Sivamurugan Pandian said that it began in 1959 when Umno’s ulama wing broke away from the party to form PAS.
Ten years later, in 1969, racial riots broke out when political deadlock emerged after a general election, which led to some parties displaying over-exuberance in public to an extent it provoked other communities.
This caused a clash to ensue. Officially the death toll was around 30, but a book on the bloodletting had later alleged that the casualties reached thousands, Sivamurugan said.
“It resulted in the disbandment of Parliament and the invoking of the National Security Council and the first form of a national unity government,” the academic noted.

PETALING JAYA: PKR vice-president Amirudin Shari says he does not regret sticking with the party instead of following Azmin Ali during the Sheraton Move in February 2020.
Amirudin acknowledged that he used to be labelled as a “follower” of Azmin, but reiterated that he decided to stick with PKR as he respected the people’s mandate given during the 2018 general election.
“I don’t regret not following him (Azmin) in becoming a traitor. This was for the sake of stability and prosperity in Selangor,” he said at a ceramah in Taman Medan here.
The Selangor menteri besar said remaining in PKR and Pakatan Harapan was the right move as the coalition had proven to be better at governing than other parties.
