Anwar and Tun M to lock horns in court battle royale: May the best man win |

“THIS is quite a game, politics. There are no permanent enemies, and no permanent friends, only permanent interests,” so observed black American politician William L. Clay (born 1931).
How true is this in the case of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim – two men who have gone one full cycle from superior-subordinate to political foes (1998 Reformasi movement) to political ally (in the aftermath of the 2018 national polls) and back to becoming political foes again.
Interestingly, the duo who know each other so well – probably as far back as three decades if not more – are unable to put their differences aside lest allowing ill-feeling or suspicion to linger on to the extent that they would ultimately have to lock horn in the civil court.
Both men are certainly aware of the price they have to pay in defence of their ego and pride for all their dirty linen will ultimately be washed (and left to dry) in public.

PERIKATAN Nasional is banking on its “poster boy” Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Noor to bring more non-Muslim voters to support the coalition in Kedah during the forthcoming state polls.
Kedah PN deputy chief M. Marimuthu Selvan said this to a news portal in reference to a survey that the state party chapter had conducted recently.
“[Sanusi] is a likeable and approachable Menteri Besars despite concerns over the ban on 4D (gaming),” he was quoted as saying by FMT.
Marimuthu was referring to the PAS-led government’s controversial decision to prohibit the operation of gaming shops in the state from January this year.

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia’s poor public transport system and haphazard urban planning are due to Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s “obsession with cars” during his first stint as prime minister, claims Khairy Jamaluddin.
The former Umno Youth chief today said Mahathir’s dream for every family to own a car made him lose sight of the importance of an integrated public transport system on a large scale.
“During the 1980s and ’90s, there weren’t many public transport projects which Mahathir (built)… only the LRT (Light Rapid Transit) and monorail systems,” said Khairy in an episode of the Keluar Sekejap podcast.
“Mahathir was only obsessed with cars (and) Proton. He even said that the country needed a large population to sustain heavy industries such as the car (manufacturing) industry. His aspiration was for each family to own a car, and (he) didn’t look at an integrated public transport system.

Last week, there came the heartwarming story of 35-year-old Manisha Jagan Mongan who saved three lives in death, when her kidneys and liver were transplanted in other people.
She was a rare example of somebody pledging to donate all their organs and tissues when they die.
The reports about the family’s 30-hour wait to claim her body, while the medical teams removed her organs, received hundreds of positive comments from Malaysians.
This is the true nature of Malaysians, whose unity is often disrupted by insensitive political statements.
