STOCKHOLM: Global military spending rose to a record last year as Russia’s war in Ukraine drove the biggest annual increase in expenditure in Europe since the end of the Cold War three decades ago, a leading conflict and armaments think tank said on Monday.

World military expenditure rose by 3.7% in real terms in 2022 to US$2.24 trillion, the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (Sipri) said in a statement.

Show proof I’m a communist, Kit Siang tells Hadi
Posted by: superadmin - 04-22-2023, 06:28 PM - Forum: Politics - Replies (1)

PETALING JAYA: DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang has asked PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang to furnish proof that he is linked with communism.

Lim said he would have been arrested by the home ministry under the security laws when Perikatan Nasional (PN) was in power from 2020 to 2022 if Hadi’s allegations were true.

“I have never been a communist, but Hadi insists I am one. When did he discover that?

“But a communist isn’t a devil’s incarnate, as Hadi should be aware that the Saudi Arabia-Iran deal was brokered by Xi Jinping, the President of Communist China,” Lim said in a statement today.

KUALA LUMPUR: The people’s “mood” and support for the unity government led by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim have been very positive, says communications and digital minister Fahmi Fadzil.

The Pakatan Harapan (PH) communications director said the findings of several studies conducted recently also found that there had been a positive sentiment towards the government.

However, he said this was not the time for the government to be complacent and to get carried away.

“This is our time to work hard not only to boost economic growth but also to immediately solve the people’s problems.

Hadi: “Unlike UMNO, PAS will never work with DAP”
Posted by: superadmin - 04-21-2023, 09:23 PM - Forum: Politics - Replies (2)

PAS will not be duped into moving away from its Islamic policies and orientation and will therefore never be able to work with DAP, unlike UMNO, according to party president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang.

“PAS cannot enter DAP’s ‘kitchen’ because of the presence of ‘non-halal food’. We cannot do so even if they change their ‘chef’, even if the ‘chef’ is Muslim,” Harakah Daily reported him as saying.

The Marang MP said this in response to DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang’s recent remark in which he expressed hope for UMNO to become stronger than both PAS and Bersatu in the future to ensure the success of the Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim-led administration.

In a statement on Monday (April 17) Lim said the only way for UMNO to return to its former glory was for the party to return to the principles of the Federal Constitution and Rukun Negara instead of seeking a pardon for their former leader Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
