PETALING JAYA: Former prime minister Najib Razak believes the state of emergency could be hindering foreign investors from coming to Malaysia.
Najib took to Facebook to ask this question after highlighting that Putrajaya recorded less revenue than it projected in the first quarter of 2021 than the second quarter of 2020 despite fewer restrictions under the second movement control order (MCO 2.0) and higher global oil prices.
The government only recorded RM49.5 billion in revenue for the first quarter of this year – 21% of the full-year estimate of RM236.9 billion. The revenue in the second quarter of 2020 was RM56.5 billion.
As for the government’s expenses, it spent RM81 billion for Q2 2020 and RM86.6 billion for Q1 2021.

Clear the Chest and Breathe More Easily |

Breathing is, of course, essential to every one of us. But sometimes we need a bit of help. The good news is that we can clear the chest and breathe more easily with these Jin Shin Jyutsu self help holds.
First, a look at the Breath
Fundamentally, the practice of Jin Shin Jyutsu enables us to balance our breath between the exhale and the inhale.
Whether we hold a thumb or a finger or practice a sequence of holds, it always boils down to this.
Exhale and Let Go
The exhale clears out stresses and congested energy. Furthermore, when we don’t exhale properly we don’t LET GO. The interesting thing is that we need to exhale first – empty the vessel, as it were – to be able to fully receive the inhale.
Mary Burmeister, a foremost teacher of Jin Shin Jyutsu, said: “Exhale to unload all dirt, dust and greasy grime.”
Inhale and Receive
When we exhale properly, we are able to RECEIVE the inhale. By the way, we never ‘take’ a breath. We always ‘receive’ a breath.
Mary said: “Inhale to receive an abundance of fresh, pure energy.”
How to practice Jin Shin Jyutsu
Sit or lie comfortably. Use cushions to support your arms if you like. Close your eyes, and place your hands as shown for a few minutes. Easy!

- The scientific advisers said while they were flagging the mutations, there was no reason currently to believe they were expanding or could be dangerous.
- Scientists are studying what led to the current surge in cases in India and particularly whether a variant first detected in the country, called B.1.617, is to blame.
A forum of scientific advisers set up by the Indian government has told authorities about minor mutations in some samples of the coronavirus that could “possibly evade immune response” and require more study, a leader of the forum has told Reuters.
However the advisers said while they were flagging the mutations, there was no reason currently to believe they were expanding or could be dangerous.
Scientists are studying what led to the current surge in cases in India and particularly whether a variant first detected in the country, called B.1.617, is to blame. The World Health Organization has not declared the Indian variant a “variant of concern,” as it has done for variants first detected in Britain, Brazil and South Africa. But the WHO said on April 27 that its early modelling, based on genome sequencing, suggested that B.1.617 had a higher growth rate than other variants circulating in India.

PETALING JAYA: Former inspector-general of police Hanif Omar said the Police Act gave the IGP the sole power to “command and control” the force, in weighing in on the role played by a commission chaired by the home minister.
The country’s longest serving top cop said the Police Force Commission, or SPP, and the minister had no such authority.
“While the SPP has its purpose as stated by the law minister, it does not include the running of the police force,” he told FMT, referring to Takiyuddin Hassan.
Yesterday, Takiyuddin said Article 140 of the constitution stipulated that the SPP oversaw matters related to promotions, discipline, welfare and other matters concerning police personnel.
Currently, the commission is chaired by Hamzah Zainudin.
Takiyuddin had said this in an apparent response to outgoing IGP Abdul Hamid Bador’s criticism of Hamzah’s interference in police matters.ee

PETALING JAYA: Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador’s tenure as the nation’s top cop comes to an end today – a two-year period during which he worked to reform the police force and cemented his reputation as a man who does not mince his words.
A former Special Branch deputy director who was removed from his post after criticism of the 1MDB investigation in 2015, Hamid was later transferred to the Prime Minister’s Department but refused to report for work.
Left out in the cold, he was appointed one of the four members of a special task force to investigate 1MDB when Pakatan Harapan took over Putrajaya in May 2018.
He was also named Bukit Aman Special Branch chief the same month and took over the top cop’s post in May 2019, when he replaced Mohamad Fuzi Harun.

PETALING JAYA: The freezing of toll rate hikes for this year, set to cost the government RM2.25 billion in compensation, could have been avoided had the government opted to continue with Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) plan to acquire certain major highways, DAP said today.
Works minister Fadillah Yusof announced on Friday the government has postponed the increase in toll rates for 2021 for the Kesas Highway, the South Klang Valley Expressway and the Lebuhraya Pantai Timur 2 (LPT2) until next year in view of the economic situation faced by the public.
Delays to toll increases for the North-South Highway, the Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway (DUKE), the Damansara-Puchong Highway (LDP) and the KL-Putrajaya Highway (MEX), announced earlier, have also been extended.
DAP’s Damansara MP Tony Pua said the proposal by the previous PH government to buy over highways owned by Gamuda Bhd, which would have included the Kesas, LDP, Sprint Expressway and SMART Tunnel, would have allowed the government to save “a few hundred million ringgit in 2021 alone”.

Charlie Munger calls bitcoin ‘disgusting and contrary to the interests of civilization’
- Berkshire Hathaway Vice Chairman Charlie Munger called bitcoin “disgusting and contrary to the interests of civilization.”
- “I don’t welcome a currency that’s so useful to kidnappers and extortionists and so forth, nor do I like just shuffling out of your extra billions of billions of dollars to somebody who just invented a new financial product out of thin air,” he said.
- The 97-year-old Munger has long criticized bitcoin for its extreme volatility and a lack of regulation.

Berkshire Hathaway Vice Chairman Charlie Munger’s distain toward bitcoin has only intensified amid the digital asset’s record run this year.
“Of course I hate the bitcoin success,” the 97-year-old Munger said during a Q&A session at Berkshire’s annual shareholder meeting Saturday. “I don’t welcome a currency that’s so useful to kidnappers and extortionists and so forth, nor do I like just shuffling out of your extra billions of billions of dollars to somebody who just invented a new financial product out of thin air.”
“I think I should say modestly that the whole damn development is disgusting and contrary to the interests of civilization,” said Munger, a legendary investor in his own right.

He said that currently, the Election Commission (EC) was still looking into several matters before finalising, and expected it to be implemented this July, thus enabling Malaysians aged 18 to vote in the 15th general election.
“However, I can’t give an exact time frame but definitely within this year.
“If we can do it this July, we will do it,” he told reporters after attending the presentation of Aidilfitri contributions for Friday mosque officials and also penghulu for the Kota Bharu parliamentary constituency today.
