‘Ivermectin the answer’: Miri MP tells of Covid-19 recoveries after taking contentious drug
MIRI – The lobby for the use of ivermectin on critically ill Covid-19 patients has intensified, with a lawmaker testifying that he knows of affected people whose condition improved after taking the controversial drug.
Miri MP Dr Michael Teo said these patients in Sarawak not only made a full recovery, but their healing happened rather quickly, too.
“I can say from personal experience, based on my real-life encounters with Covid-19 patients, that ivermectin works,” he said in an interview with The Vibes.
“I cannot reveal the identities of any patients or disclose where they are, as the information is strictly confidential.
“But, I can say for sure that there are real and present cases of Covid-19 patients who took ivermectin and they recovered fully within a few days.”

Proposing Ismail Sabri as prime minister an affront to king |

KUALA LUMPUR – It is perplexing that Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob can even consider himself a candidate for prime minister, when he stood by current leader Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin when the latter suspended the democratic process and was belligerent to the king.
With statutory declarations being signed to propose the Umno vice-president as the next prime minister, critics of the Perikatan Nasional government are questioning why the people are stuck with only one choice – another individual from a failed government.
PKR communications chief Fahmi Fadzil said the current prime minister candidate must be opposed by all parliamentarians.
“Ismail Sabri, as a son of Pahang, did not defend the constitutional monarchy institution on July 29, when the Yang di-Pertuan Agong had expressed His Majesty’s unhappiness over the fact that cabinet members had disobeyed His Majesty’s decree to debate and vote on the emergency ordinance in Parliament.

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 15 — Umno’s Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz said he has signed a statutory declaration (SD) endorsing Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob to be the next prime minister to replace Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
According to The Star, the Padang Rengas MP confirmed signing the document today and urged his party’s other parliamentarians to follow suit.
“I’ve already signed and I think all Umno MPs should support this, including those who are opposed to Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
“He (Muhyiddin) is gone now, so there’s no reason not to sign,” he was quoted saying in the report, adding the SD was signed at a hotel in the city earlier this afternoon.
Muhyiddin reportedly informed Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia today of his intention to resign as the prime minister and is believed to have an audience scheduled with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong tomorrow.
Earlier, Bersatu’s Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof suggested that Muhyiddin made the decision after the olive branch he extended to the Opposition on Friday was flatly rejected.

PETALING JAYA: Pakatan Harapan (PH) gave the nod to leaders in the opposition coalition to speak to their rivals on the current political situation, Lim Guan Eng confirmed.
The DAP secretary-general however said the coalition only barred “the top three leaders from PH” from speaking to their political rivals.
This comes in the wake of media reports that two DAP leaders had spoken to a minister.
“Except for the heads of DAP, PKR and Amanah, many MPs and leaders from PH parties have on their own accord held many discussions on their own with political opponents,” he said in a statement.
Yesterday, Sin Chew Daily reported that two DAP parliamentarians had helped draft proposals that Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin had pushed for as he sought to keep his administration intact with the help of the opposition.
Quoting sources, Sin Chew Daily said that the two, Damansara MP Tony Pua and Bangi MP Ong Kian Ming, had worked on it with finance minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz.

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 15 — Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is expected to tender his resignation to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong tomorrow.
Malaysiakini reported that Muhyiddin informed of his decision during a high-level meeting with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) leaders this morning.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Special Functions) Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof told the online news portal that Muhyiddin informed the MPs that he had exhausted all avenues to sustain his administration and resigning was the last resort.
“We just finished the meeting. Tomorrow, there will be a special Cabinet meeting. After that, he will head to Istana Negara to submit his resignation,” Redzuan said.

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 15 — Seventeen-and-a-half months since Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin was sworn in as prime minister, Malaysia finds itself in the same political impasse it was mired in then.
The calculators are in hand again, the horse-trading is already in full swing, as ordinary Malaysians are again subjected to undesired ringside seats to politicians searching for the magic number of MPs to guarantee their team takes the reins of power.
All this is happening amid unverified reports that Muhyiddin has already decided to quit as prime minister by tomorrow.
Muhyiddin was the ultimate winner after the “Sheraton Move” last year which saw his Bersatu pull out from the 22-month-old Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition and form a new Perikatan Nasional (PN) government.

PETALING JAYA: The political situation will remain uncertain for the foreseeable future if Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin resigns, according to an opposition MP and electoral reform group.
Amid growing speculation that Muhyiddin would announce his resignation as prime minister soon, Damansara MP Tony Pua said one of the possible outcomes could be a political impasse that would drag on.
“Number one, if no one has a majority, there will be a political impasse dragging us for a long time.
“Number two, a prime minister from Umno is appointed that could unite all Umno MPs and number three, a general election,” he said in a webinar organised by the electoral reform group Bersih 2.0.
