PETALING JAYA: An education group has called for a more “diverse, equitable and inclusive” quota system instead of the race-based approach in higher education institutions.
The Higher Education Malaysia Association (Heya) said the quota system should ensure a balanced composition of students in higher education institutions, and proposed that the system take into account three factors rather than race and ethnicity.
The first factor is “economic capital”, allowing students from low-income households to benefit and ensure education equity is upheld for less financially capable communities.
Secondly, “social capital” should be considered, factoring in the digital divide and lower access to educational material of students from less developed or rural areas.

As a student learning through APDM in Malaysia, I appreciate the Higher Education Malaysia Association's (Heya) call for a more inclusive quota system in higher education institutions. It's essential to move beyond race-based approaches and consider factors like economic capital and social capital. This holistic approach ensures that students from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds have equal opportunities to access higher education. By prioritizing equity and inclusion, we can create a more balanced and fair educational environment for all students in Malaysia.

As a student engaging with https://apdm-kpm.com in Malaysia, I strongly support the Higher Education Malaysia Association’s (HEYA) push for a more inclusive quota system in universities. It’s crucial to move past race-based criteria and instead focus on factors like economic and social capital. This broader, more holistic approach will help ensure that students from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds have equal opportunities to access higher education. By prioritizing equity and inclusion, we can foster a more fair and balanced educational environment for all students in Malaysia.

This is a good step towards inclusiveness. When governments prioritize socioeconomic factors in policy-making, it creates fairer opportunities in both education and employment. For more updates and insights related to government jobs and education systems, I often refer to https://neogov.pro
