BN, PH to defend seats won in GE14 in state polls, says Saifuddin

PETALING JAYA: Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) will defend the seats they won in the 14th general election (GE14) in the upcoming state polls.

PH secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the consensus was reached when the two coalitions met recently, Bernama reported.

GEORGE TOWN: A Pakatan Harapan (PH) assemblyman says the coalition will not give up seats it won in the last state elections after an Umno division leader admitted the party was eyeing a seat in Permatang Pauh.

There are three seats in Permatang Pauh, namely Seberang Jaya, Permatang Pasir and Penanti. In the last elections, PKR won the Seberang Jaya and Penanti seats, while Amanah won Permatang Pasir.

Seat distribution must be based on agreed principles, says Loke

SEREMBAN: The distribution of state assembly seats between Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) for the coming state elections must be decided based on principles agreed upon by the unity government secretariat.

DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook said among the principles and parameters that had been agreed upon were that seats won by a certain party would continue to be contested by that same party in the coming state polls.

“When we enter into any seat negotiations, surely there are parameters and principles which must be agreed upon, namely the incumbent seat will continue to be held by the winning party.
