Muhyiddin scorns Anwar for naming ‘kleptocrats’ to cabinet

KUALA LUMPUR – Former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has poured scorn on the newly announced cabinet, saying that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has “sold the country’s dignity” by appointing “kleptocrats”.

Muhyiddin, who is also Perikatan Nasional chairman, also accused Anwar of “pawning principles of good governance” that Pakatan Harapan championed during its election campaign.

“This is the most disappointing cabinet line-up in the country’s history when a person who has been called to defend himself against 47 corruption charges, breach of trust, and money laundering is appointed deputy prime minister.”

This is a unity govt, not PH, Fahmi reminds Muhyiddin

PETALING JAYA: Freshly minted digital communications minister Fahmi Fadzil has hit back at opposition leader Muhyiddin Yassin for accusing Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim of appointing alleged “kleptocrats” into the Cabinet.

Muhyiddin was referring to the appointment of Ahmad Zahid Hamidi as deputy prime minister despite the Umno president facing 47 counts of corruption, criminal breach of trust and money laundering charges. Zahid also holds the rural and regional development portfolio.

Fahmi said the Bersatu president had forgotten that this was not a Pakatan Harapan government, which would allow the prime minister to appoint whoever he pleased.

“This is a unity government, where policies and important decisions are made together, including the appointment of Cabinet members,” he said in a Facebook post.

What about 1BestariNet, RM500 bil expenses, Fahmi Fadzil asks Muhyiddin

KUALA LUMPUR – Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is being reminded of a handful of controversies, such as 1BestariNet and the supposed spending of RM500 billion, during his time as prime minister.

Incoming communications and digital minister Fahmi Fadzil, in defence of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s cabinet, said it is important to remember that Muhyiddin has issues that should be investigated.

In his Facebook post, Fahmi also called on the former prime minister to stop misleading the people with his statements, as the unity government is not a Pakatan Harapan (PH) government where Anwar can just appoint anyone he wants to the cabinet.
