ISKANDAR PUTERI – Johor Pakatan Harapan (PH) would announce its candidates for the state’s 26 parliamentary seats for the upcoming 15th general election (GE15) on November 3, said Johor Amanah deputy chairman Dzulkefly Ahmad.

“We have completed the distribution of seats and we’ll leave it to the wisdom of our party leaders in determining the candidates as the GE15 is a rather critical one.

“All the parties had the experience of being part of the government. Winnable candidates are also a factor in ensuring victory,” he told reporters after attending a briefing on the training for GE15 political party workers in Johor at the Iskandar Puteri City Council building, here, today.

Asked whether Amanah deputy president Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub would be defending the Pulai parliamentary seat which he won in 2018, Dzulkefly said it was a usual practice for the party to choose again a candidate in the following election.

Enough room for Muda in PH, says Hannah
[Image: 06-HANNAH-YEOH-TSEOW-SUAN.jpg]
PETALING JAYA: A DAP leader has backed Muda’s bid to join Pakatan Harapan (PH), saying there is enough room for it and other like-minded parties in the coalition.

Hannah Yeoh, DAP’s assistant publicity secretary, said it was good that PH and Muda were on the verge of sealing an electoral pact for the next general election. Supporters wanted to see a united opposition, she told FMT.

“In politics, you will always have new players and I think that’s a good thing for Malaysian politics,” she said.

“If we share the same values, there is no need for us to run each other down just because Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman uses a different logo from mine.”

GE15: analysts mull Anwar’s advantages, challenges in Tambun
[Image: 20102022_-_Anwar_Ibrahim_Konvesyen_Harap...FIS_01.JPG]

KUALA LUMPUR – Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s bid for the Tambun parliamentary seat is a single, strategic move that sends several messages to Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) opponents in the 15th general election (GE15), political observers say.

It shows that the opposition leader is firm at the battle frontlines, “sticking out his neck” in a difficult constituency, which has been an Umno stronghold until 2018.

Although Anwar had long kept to his safe seat of Permatang Pauh for most of his electoral history, he is now leading the charge on new ground.

Standing in Tambun is also a message to “traitors” who quit PH in the 2020 Sheraton Move, leading to the elected government’s collapse. Tambun incumbent Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu is deputy president of Bersatu, which led the 2020 defections from PH under Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

Can Azmin still wow the hearts of Gombak voters?

DOES Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali still have the support of his constituents in Gombak now that he has expressed his desire to defend his incumbent Gombak parliamentary seat after his move to Perikatan Nasional (PN)?

Gombak has always been a Pakatan Harapan (PH) stronghold as Azmin has served for three consecutive terms as its MP, whilst having the Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari as Sungai Tua assemblyman.

Have the hearts of the Gombakians changed after Azmin who the last time had received 75,113 votes with a 48,721 vote majority, the highest during the 14th general election (GE14) in 2018 which was also the driving factor to lead the Opposition coalition to victory?

Azmin in announcing his candidacy is expected to contest under the Bersatu ticket stating he would leave it to the people of Gombak to make the “right and responsible” decision adding that it was a democratic process to elect a representative for the constituency.
