I don’t trust him, says Farhash about his rival Amirudin

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Perak PKR chief Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal, who seeks to replace Amirudin Shari as Gombak division leader, says he does not trust his rival.

Farhash and Amirudin, who is menteri besar of Selangor, are also rivals in a 17-cornered contest to be one of four vice-presidents of the party.

“The menteri besar is a central figure in Selangor, I’m not taking anything away from what he’s done for the party, the Gombak division and the state,” he said in an interview with FMT.

Sabah PKR leaders can nominate new state chief if they want to: sec-gen

KOTA KINABALU – The 26 PKR division chiefs in Sabah will get to nominate a new leader for the state chapter if they so choose, said party secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail after a faction called for incumbent state party chief Datuk Christina Liew to be ousted.

He said he is aware of the faction and that it is nothing new.

“We have it before in other states. Eventually, we manage to sit down and resolve them,” he said during a breaking fast event organised by the Kekuatan Keadilan (KK) group here tonight.

He said the party polls in May is a good opportunity for party members in Sabah to choose their leaders, and that the division leaders will get to nominate a new state chief.

“Based on the PKR constitution, it is up to party president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to appoint a new state chief.

Guan Eng wanted me, nothing to do with Rafizi, says Saifuddin

PETALING JAYA: PKR’s Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has dismissed claims that Rafizi Ramli, his rival for the party’s deputy president post, was instrumental in his appointment as a strategic adviser to the Penang chief minister Lim Guan Eng in 2017.

Saifuddin also dismissed claims that Rafizi had made way for him to take the secretary-general’s post in 2016 because he was “jobless” at the time.

Saifuddin invites Rafizi to share thoughts on PKR, says Azmin no longer around to shoot him down

KUALA LUMPUR, May 6 ― PKR secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said predecessor Rafizi Ramli need not be afraid to express his opinions to the party like before as the latter’s former rival, Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, was no longer around to discredit these.

Saifuddin said Rafizi, whom he will contest against for the PKR deputy presidency, should feel free to propose ideas and topics directly to the party.

Rafizi is on a tour with Permatang Pauh MP Nurul Izzah Anwar, on their “Ayuh Malaysia” campaign to convince fencesitters to vote for PKR.

During the campaign, Rafizi opened up about the struggles and poor performances of Opposition parties at Johor, Melaka, Sabah and Sarawak elections.

Party declares election ‘war’, not Rafizi, says Saifuddin

PETALING JAYA: Any decision by PKR to “go to war” or “negotiate” with other parties over the next general election will not be made by the party’s next deputy president but by the entire leadership, says PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

In a retort to Rafizi Ramli, his rival for the number two post, Saifuddin said there was no need to put party members on a guilt trip, by making them choose between going to war or negotiating with other parties.

Array of big names in the running for PKR positions

GEORGE TOWN: The PKR elections kicked off Friday to pick their leaders for the next three years until 2025, with many having their eyes on the deputy presidency contested by Rafizi Ramli and Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

While Anwar Ibrahim has kept his party presidency uncontested, the fight for other leadership posts, such as for the four elected vice-presidents, is one to watch out for, as 17 are vying for all four.

Among those contesting are Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari, Wanita chief Fuziah Salleh, Negeri Sembilan menteri besar Aminuddin Harun and former Perak PKR chief Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak.

Other prominent names are PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil, party organising secretary Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad and PKR central leadership member Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid.

Also in the mix are Tanjong Malim MP Chang Lih Kang; Alor Setar MP Chan Ming Kai; former Kapar MP G Manivannan; former Perak PKR deputy chairman MA Tinagaran; former Indera Mahkota MP Azan Ismail; former vice-president Mustaffa Kamil Ayub; former PKR Youth vice-president S Thiban; Sentosa assemblyman G Gunarajah; Chuah assemblyman Michael Yek and Bukit Selambau assemblyman R Summugam.

Party polls show PKR cleansed of cartel, says vice-president candidate

PETALING JAYA: Two years after a split brought about by the “Sheraton Move”, PKR members have moved on and the party has been “cleansed” of a group known as the “cartel”, according to a central committee member.

Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid said the 2022 party elections could become an opportunity for the party to reunite following the departure of an influential group associated with former deputy president Azmin Ali.

“PKR is going through a new phase. There are no more ‘cartels’ in PKR because all of them have left with their ‘bosses’. The cleansing has been done,” said Abdullah, who is contesting to be a vice-president.

‘Warning signs’ after only 12% of 1.1mil PKR members vote in polls

PETALING JAYA: The PKR national elections saw a dismal response with only 12.26% of its 1.1 million members coming out to vote, and party insiders have sounded the alarm that it could be headed for disaster in the next general election (GE15).

According to the document showing the final tally sighted by FMT, only 137,127 of the 1,118,423 eligible members came out to vote physically or via online. This does not include the eight divisions where fresh elections have been called after there were glitches over the weekend polls.

PKR polls: Rafizi Ramli beats Saifuddin in Melaka

PETALING JAYA: Rafizi Ramli has emerged as the victor in all divisions in Melaka in the race for the party’s deputy president against his rival Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

According to the party’s website, the former Pandan MP won 2,427 votes against Saifuddin’s 1,468 in the state.

Melaka is one of the smaller states, with less than 4,000 voters compared with the 147,334 who voted nationwide.

Meanwhile, in the battle for Hang Tuah Jaya division chief, Rafee Ibrahim has beaten party vice-president Shamsul Iskandar, who is also the MP for the constituency.
