PETALING JAYA: Analysts expect little to change in the political landscape even with the registration of Muda as a political party and the gazetting of Undi18 and automatic voter registration.

Former Universiti Teknologi Malaysia lecturer Azmi Hassan said Muda was not strong enough to go it alone in the next general election and Oh Ei Sun of the Singapore Institute of International Affairs said the new young voters would not necessarily be progressive.

“It will be an uphill battle for Muda to make an impact,” Azmi told FMT.

“The new party needs to be affiliated with a seasoned political party or an experienced politician.”

He suggested Warisan as an option, saying: “The Sabah-based party is eager to spread its wings to the peninsula. Maybe Muda and Warisan can work together. After all, Warisan has many experienced politicians.”
