MELAKA – Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has promised to introduce an anti-hopping enactment in Melaka after the coalition successfully reclaimed the state in the snap polls today.

In a press conference at the BN command centre this evening, the Umno president said the coalition would work on amendments to legislations to avoid party-hopping among elected assemblymen.

“Our victory today sends a signal that Melaka voters are returning their support to BN. Thank you to all Melaka voters for giving this chance to BN.

“With this victory, BN acknowledges the people’s desire for political stability and we will translate this stability not only in Melaka but also all over Malaysia,” said Zahid, who is also the Bagan Datuk lawmaker.
