GEORGE TOWN: Kedah menteri besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor can be investigated by police for allegedly causing public outrage over his remarks on containers for the Covid-19 dead, which can be considered an insult on others, a lawyer said today.
Ramkarpal Singh said while the menteri besar had defended himself by saying the remarks were made to reporters, Sanusi should know that such remarks can be cited in their news reports.
He said Sanusi’s remarks – “We have enough containers for the dead, who wants to go in can give their names.” – were insensitive and could cause provocation as deaths from the disease have risen frighteningly recently.
Ramkarpal said Sanusi should be investigated by police the same way that four people were arrested and questioned for insulting him on Facebook.
“The only questions that remain is whether the menteri besar intended to provoke others with his remarks and whether he knew this was likely to cause them to commit an offence.
