Umno MPs to back PN until Parliament reconvenes, says Puad

PETALING JAYA: Umno MPs will continue supporting the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government until Parliament sits, says the party’s Supreme Council member Puad Zarkashi.

He said this was one of the matters decided during the four-hour Umno Supreme Council meeting on Wednesday evening, which he claimed had been leaked by Annuar Musa.

“Now there are several parties who are attempting to spin the Supreme Council’s decision,” he said, referring to the party’s formal withdrawal of support for Muhyiddin Yassin as the prime minister.

Former Barisan Nasional secretary-general Annuar had, among others, claimed that not everything that was said during the meeting was mentioned by Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in his press statement.

Puad alleged that Annuar had leaked video recordings of the Supreme Council meeting to the Umno division heads, which contained other details that were discussed, including allowing Umno MPs to use their own discretion if there was a vote in Parliament.
