Netizens demand swift action on alleged bribe scandal against state assemblypersons

EIGHT video recordings have surfaced, allegedly showing assemblypersons, including some in senior state positions, discussing large bribes in exchange for project support.

Local news portal Malaysiakini stated it has seen the videos but is withholding identities until it can secure copies and comments from those involved.

A source said the whistleblower, who notified the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), is seeking protection under the Whistleblower Protection Act 2010 before proceeding further.

However, X users are now arguing over which state it is and who are the assembly persons involved.

Some are speculating that they could be from an opposition-controlled state, despite the lack of evidence.

C4 calls out elected reps for silence on assemblymen bribery case
[Image: ?url=https%3A%2F%2Fmedia.freemalaysiatod...=1080&q=75]

PETALING JAYA: The Center to Combat Corruption and Cronyism (C4) has questioned the lack of support by MPs and assemblymen for a witness in an alleged case of assemblymen discussing bribes for a project licence.

C4 lauded Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng, who has committed to sharing the evidence and names of those involved in Parliament should the whistleblower reach out to him.

“However, he stands in the minority in seeking the truth behind this matter. C4 heavily criticises the deafening silence from other MPs and assemblymen on this issue,” it said in a statement today.

It said that if the allegations were true, it exposes a critical flaw in oversight by the elected representatives.

Whistleblower Begging The King For Protection – The Wrong Message That PM Anwar Fights Corruption Only Selectively
[Image: Malaysia-Corruption-Cash.jpg]

Sabah is known as the land of frogs, where politicians get super rich by hopping to the highest bidder every time there is a struggle for power in the state. With the next state election approaches, of which the 17th Sabah State Legislative Assembly must be elected by 9 December 2025, the jostle for all the 73 seats has begun. This round, the CEO of the state plunges into a corruption scandal.

The scandal, involving at least eight assemblypersons under the ruling state government of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) led by Sabah Chief Minister Hajiji Noor, has seen eight video clips and screenshots of WhatsApp text messages showing them admitting to receiving bribes. Those clips would be the evidence that a whistleblower plans to surrender to the MACC (Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission).

PMX’s whistleblower stance: Shielding integrity or protecting those in power?

WHEN Christopher Wylie blew the whistle in 2018 on Cambridge Analytica’s role in the US presidential election meddling two years earlier, he wasn’t exactly an angel.

He had been involved in some of the questionable data practices himself but his decision to expose the truth led to a global reckoning on data privacy, sparking EU (European Union) reforms and Facebook overhauls. And for that Wylie walked away from any prosecution.

Imagine if UK authorities had ignored his revelations simply because he wasn’t “totally clean.” The scandals would have stayed buried while the executives would still be cashing in on everyone else’s expense.

Yet here we are in Malaysia faced with a whistleblower holding incriminating evidence against eight Sabah assemblypersons – and our Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is telling him there’s no guaranteed protection. Why? Because he’s the “bribe giver.”

Has anyone in power stopped to think: who else but the bribe giver could provide this level of evidence?
