Best long-life battery?
#1
We live aboard full-time and need a reliable battery bank that can handle heavy loads and regular deep discharges. Solar is our primary charging source, so battery efficiency really matters. I’ve read about gel batteries being more durable in deep cycle usage — any real-world recommendations?

For our full-time cruising setup, the victron bat412201104 12v/220ah gel deep cycle battery https://yacht-supply24.com/catalog/marin...e-battery/ has been phenomenal. It’s extremely robust with no noticeable capacity loss after a year of continuous use. Unlike cheaper batteries, it doesn’t overheat and is completely maintenance-free. We paired it with a smart solar controller, and it’s handled fridge, navigation, and lights flawlessly. This is hands-down one of the best long-term power investments we’ve made.

Really appreciate that — your feedback helped us feel confident about going with the gel setup. Thanks again!
