Is Ukraine, armed with billions of dollars worth of American weapons, really winning the war against Russia? It depends. If you restrict yourself to reading Western news media, then Ukraine is indeed winning. How can Ukrainians not win when the media keep reporting that thousands of Russian helicopters, aircrafts, drones and whatnot are dropping from the sky every day?
In the same breath, NATO reported up to 40,000 Russian troops have been killed, wounded or taken prisoner in Ukraine. Putin also lost thousands of tanks, armour vehicles and other war machines. The Ukrainian forces reportedly have attacked the Russian military so fiercely that not only Ukraine suffers zero lost, but also saw Russian forces surrendering without a fight.
In fact, tons of American and British tabloids said Vladimir Putin had gone mad, mentally ill, dying of cancer or even so terrified of losing the war that he had gone hiding under some secret bunkers. Yet, despite winning the war, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky concedes that his country will not join NATO and agreed to engage in peace negotiations with the devilish Putin.

KUALA LUMPUR (April 4): National car maker Proton Holdings Bhd’s sales in March rose 41.2% month-on-month to 13,028 units for a market share of 19%.
In a statement Monday (April 4), the company said for the quarter, cumulative sales from January to March closed at 26,706 units with a cumulative market share of 17.5%, good enough to be ranked second in the overall table despite a reduction in sales of 18.6% and a 5.7% contraction in market share compared to the first quarter of 2021 (1Q21).
Proton said while total sales for March were down by 13% compared to the same month in 2021, the company still posted some noteworthy results.
It said sales of the Proton Saga, a model that was severely affected in January, hit 6,422 units in March, its best effort since November 2013.
It said this not only made the Saga the sales leader for A-segment sedans but also the best-selling A-segment model overall.
Helping to power the Saga’s numbers was a growth in export sales.

KUCHING, April 3 — DAP’s state committee will meet on Tuesday in Sibu to discuss the possibility of working with other Opposition parties in Sarawak for the 15th general election (GE15), its chairman Chong Chieng Jen said today.
He said the results of last December’s state election showed that the major Opposition parties must band together to take on the ruling Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in the national polls.
“No doubt, regionalism sentiment was strong in the state election. However, the results also showed that purely fighting on regional politics will not get a party anywhere,” Chong, who is also the Padungan assemblyman, said in a statement.
He said Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) contested 70 seats but won only four, while DAP won only two seats out of the 26 contested.

IPOH: At 93, masters athletics sprinter Pushpanathan Letchmanan uses “old age” as an asset rather than a crutch.
The verve of the nonagenarian is electrifying: he challenges himself, aims high and keeps his internal flame alight with an aura of age-defying spirit.
There’s an intensity to his lust for life and running and the lifelong exerciser is not about to make any concessions to age.
“Never allow anything or anyone to define who you are at any stage of your life,” Pushpanathan said. “We have to do what brings us joy.”

Op-ed: A new world order is emerging — and the world is not ready for it
DUBAI – “Are we ready for the new world order?”
The provocative title of the panel that lead off the ambitiously named World Government Summit here last week was framed to suggest that a new global order is emerging — and the world is not ready for it.
There has been a proliferation of writing about who will shape the future world order since Russian President Vladimir Putin launched his invasion of Ukraine on Feb. 24, the most murderous Europe has suffered since 1939.
The tempting conclusion: Should Ukraine survive as an independent, sovereign, and democratic country, the U.S.- and Europe-backed forces will regain momentum against the previously ascendant Russian-Chinese forces of authoritarianism, oppression and (at least in Putin’s case) evil.
That sounds like good news, but there is a downside.

| Opposition too fractious to form grand coalition: observers |

KUALA LUMPUR – The meeting between former prime ministers Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has triggered predictions of a new grand coalition underway, but analysts believe cooperation between rivalling opposition parties is unlikely in the coming general election (GE15).
The political observers pointed to the fractious relationships between Muhyiddin-led Bersatu and its offshoot Pejuang, helmed by Dr Mahathir, as well as their former allies in Pakatan Harapan.
The analysts noted a lack of cohesion between the likes of Bersatu, Pejuang, and Bersatu, as well as the Pakatan Harapan (PH) component parties – PKR, DAP, and Amanah – after the Sheraton Move in early 2020 that led to the collapse of the PH federal government.
They said Muhyiddin’s efforts to regain the helm may be futile, while the possibility of opposition parties coming together to form a minority government is also far-fetched.
Universiti Teknologi Malaysia geostrategist Prof Azmi Hassan said leadership structure is the biggest hurdle opposition parties face in forming a coalition.

PETALING JAYA: Umno and Bersatu are “divorced” and Umno will not accept Bersatu back as a partner for any reason or for the next general election, says Umno secretary-general Ahmad Maslan.
He said there were many reasons for the parting of ways, such as the establishment of Bersatu in 2016, which he said had led to the Umno-led Barisan Nasional losing power in the 2018 general election.
