SHAH ALAM: PKR president Anwar Ibrahim says Muda wants to contest 10 seats in the upcoming Johor state elections.
He said Muda had been told to send in a list of candidates before discussions could take place.
Speaking after attending an appreciation ceremony for Selangor flood volunteers today, the opposition leader said nothing could be confirmed until further discussions took place.
Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman had confirmed last week that his party would contest in the Johor polls after seemingly being left out of seat negotiations by Pakatan Harapan (PH).
It has yet to be determined if Muda will contest under PH, but discussions are said to be ongoing.

KUALA LUMPUR – Whether or not a judge tends to prevent key evidence from being presented in court is among the main indicators if he is indeed acting independently.
In a series of tweets, PKR’s Rafizi Ramli said he came to this conclusion based on his experience attending 14 court cases over the span of 10 years, during his time in active politics.
The former Pandan MP has since announced his retirement from mainstream politics in December 2019 but is understood to be still a member of PKR.
“I have seen for myself the behaviour of dozens of judges from the magistrates’ court to the apex court,” he said today.

We’ve been patient: PAS Youth blasts ‘sorcerer’ Zahid after Hadi criticism |

KUALA LUMPUR – PAS Youth has accused Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi of going overboard in attacking its party leader Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang, as ties between the two Muafakat Nasional (MN) parties continue to disintegrate.
Its chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari said PAS had been patient over the past year, despite a series of statements slamming the Islamist party, but described Zahid’s latest remark as going overboard.
This concerns the Umno president’s statement yesterday suggesting Hadi should change his profession from a politician to a zoologist after the latter labelled Umno as a “lame duck”.
Fadlhi noted that this is not the first time Zahid had criticised PAS, pointing to a social media post the latter had made in December.
“You wrote that a religious person should follow authentic scriptures and not manipulate religious laws based on political whims and fancies, to achieve political goals.
“We know who that post was targeted at, but we did not respond because we know many in Umno still love our ummah unity,” he said in his Facebook post today.

GEORGE TOWN: A veteran Umno politician has warned that the country is facing dangerous political and economic failure, saying only an extraordinary leadership can check the slide.
Former finance minister Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, who is the longest-serving MP in the country, listed several crises that may come together in the immediate future and cause severe hardship to Malaysians.
He said among them were failure of the leadership and political parties, a life-threatening health crisis that impacts every aspect of life and disruption of the food supply chain that can destabilise the country’s food security.
He said any disruption in the food supply chain could cause a deep structural crisis in all aspects of the economy and result in widespread unemployment.
“Because of these disruptions, the ringgit will devalue and there will be depletion of the US dollar reserves, causing inflation and a supply crisis of food and other essentials,” he told a forum at Universiti Sains Malaysia here today.

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 6 — The Malaysian Employers Federation (MEF) reiterated that now is not the right time to increase the cost of doing business and the proposed RM1,500 new minimum wage implementation would derail economic recovery.
President Datuk Syed Hussain Syed Husman said the majority of Malaysian businesses are not ready and not in a position to implement the proposed new minimum wage as they are still reeling from the economic shock brought about by Covid-19 and the devastating impact of the recent major floods.
“More efforts should be directed towards business recovery in the private sector and controlling the rising cost of products and services. We must remember that most Malaysian businesses are micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), whereby 98.9 per cent are in this group.
“So, when we talk about wages and cost, we must think of their survival and sustainability,” he said in a statement today.

Speaking to The Vibes, Muda secretary-general Amira Aisya is aware that her party faces an uphill battle in Malaysia’s most southern state but hopes the people of Johor will understand that they aim to bring a fresh political landscape.
“Principally, Muda is a multi-cultural and diverse party aiming to bring positive political changes to Malaysia.
“We are a political party aiming to serve Malaysians regardless of age, gender, race, background or religion.
