DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said parties such as MCA and MIC in the peninsula and others from Sabah and Sarawak should speak up against the Kedah government’s decision to stop the renewal of business licences for four-digit lottery outlets, which effectively was a ban. He said they should get the ban revoked at the Cabinet meeting to prove that they can stop PAS from pushing for extremist policies that violate the rights of individuals. “DAP agrees that there should be restrictions imposed such as prohibiting Muslims and addressing the social problems involved. We don’t want Malaya politics to end up in Sarawak.” Speaking during the launch of the RM90 million City Hall complex at Miri Marina Bay this morning, Johari said Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) knows how to manage the state. “We know Sarawak better than anyone else. Judge Datuk Akhtar Tahir also ordered a cost of RM5,000 be paid to all plaintiffs as Malaysian government’s bid was “unnecessary”. However, the government still has a pending appeal filed on September 9 at the Court of Appeal on the original high court ruling. In a statement, Family Frontiers – an organisation representing the affected mothers – said it is appalled that the government in its submission stated that there is no prejudice to the mothers in allowing the stay. Leaders of the various “persatuans” (associations), who are supposed to champion the rakyat’s interests, have also failed us. Current and former leaders and professionals who are members of various organisations representing their trade, like the civil service, academia, social welfare groups, businessmen, lawyers, doctors, teachers, engineers and policemen, are all complicit in Malaysia’s mess. These associations will invite ministers to their annual publicity events, take group photographs and engage in friendly banter. Some of their leaders will end up receiving awards and titles, but when there are issues involving the people, they keep silent. Why? They are afraid to upset the government and risk their chances of being nominated for further awards, like a Datukship. This is how mercenary-like many leaders in the various professions have become. The clip shows the girl, who appears to be on the 10th or 11th storey of the building, looking down after climbing onto the ledge and suddenly climbing back into the balcony. There are no details as to where or when the incident took place. CAP president Mohideen Abdul Kader said this incident could be considered a “great escape” for the child but that such incidents could turn ugly if they happened too often. Research has shown that patients with T2D are two to four times more likely to develop heart failure compared to someone without diabetes. Raised blood glucose levels contribute 10-11% to risk of heart failure. While diabetes can cause a myriad of complications, heart disease is one that is often overlooked.
