Kelantan PAS calls for straight fights at GE15
Posted by: superadmin - 10-24-2021, 09:42 PM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

PETALING JAYA: The Kelantan PAS Ulama Council has urged the party’s central leadership to “expand the culture of mature and prosperous politics” across the political divide, so that there will be only straight fights at the next general election (GE15).

The move was among 10 motions approved by the council today at its meeting in Bachok. Among them is a motion to form a task force targeted at wooing new voters, aged 18 and above, to draw their interest to the country and religion.

The 10 motions were adopted at the council’s 50th muktamar (assembly), which was attended by 115 state delegates, Bernama reported.

Council chief Hassan Mohamood said that the task force was needed as there would be many new voters aged 18 and above at the coming general election.

A new political scenario would also emerge, with a sharp increase in the number of voters in parliamentary and state constituencies throughout the country.

Pakatan ends infighting, claims misunderstanding between PKR, DAP
Posted by: superadmin - 10-24-2021, 06:16 PM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

GEORGE TOWN – The Penang PKR-DAP spat has ended, said state PKR chairman Muhammad Bakhtiar Wan Chik.

Both parties were jostling among themselves for credit over the management of the pandemic.

“The issue has been put to rest as the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition’s cordial relationship continues as ‘Big, Strong and Friendly’,” said Bakhtiar, adding that it is a misunderstanding and perception of the leaders based on how the issue was expressed.

“Our relations are cordial. It is always cordial and never has any problem. We had the state PH meeting last Friday and the matter was not raised during the meeting. The strengthening of the coalition is more important than the conflict between DAP and PKR. It is a misunderstanding.

“It is a difference of opinion and perception as somebody is taking the credit for the decline of Covid-19 pandemic cases in the state. It is like the changing of the health minister with the science, technology and innovation minister; nobody is taking credit for anybody’s work,” he said.

‘Realistic’ PSM to contest fewer seats in GE15, says Jeyakumar

PETALING JAYA: Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) will contest in the next general election (GE15) but it will reduce the number of its candidates to a “realistic” level, the party’s chairman Dr Michael Jeyakumar Devaraj said.

During the last general election in 2018, the party contested in five parliamentary and 12 state seats and did not win any.

“We had won two seats in the 13th general election in 2013. Here, we need to understand that people voted for us because we represented the opposition and all the voters wanted was to remove Barisan Nasional.

Landslide win in Melaka assured if PN, MN work together, says PAS man

PETALING JAYA: Perikatan Nasional and Muafakat Nasional can win the upcoming Melaka polls by a landslide if Umno and Bersatu are able to put aside their differences and work with each other, says a PAS leader.

In a Facebook post, PAS strategic director Khairuddin Aman Razali told of a “winning formula” proposed by deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, where incumbents get to defend their seats.

Decide on Melaka quickly, Azmin tells Umno
Posted by: superadmin - 10-24-2021, 05:37 PM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

[Image: azmin-ali-zahid-hamidi-ahmad-maslan.jpg]

ALOR GAJAH: With certain Umno leaders making contradictory statements on the party’s cooperation with Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the Melaka polls, Azmin Ali has asked the party to decide quickly so that they can proceed with their election planning.

Azmin claimed that he had received information that certain Umno leaders and grassroots members were keen to cooperate with PN in the Melaka state election scheduled for Nov 20, adding that the coalition had not shut its doors to negotiating with the party.

“But this is an internal problem of Umno in which we should not interfere. The party needs to make a final decision on whether it wants to cooperate or not.

“Let the people judge which party is rejecting unity and which one is for establishing cooperation for the sake of stability in the state and country,” Bernama reported the PN election director as saying after attending a meeting with the Masjid Tanah PN polls team here.

On Oct 22, Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had said the party was sticking to its decision not to cooperate with Bersatu in any election.

Umno secretary-general Ahmad Maslan, however, said it is still not too late for the party to establish cooperation with any party for the election, adding that the Supreme Council will make a final decision at its meeting on Thursday.

MP SPEAKS | How was RM100m in Mitra allocation spent?
Posted by: superadmin - 10-24-2021, 12:56 PM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

By Kasthuri Patto

MP SPEAKS | With only five days to go before Budget 2022, the national unity minister must make all Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (Mitra) applications, approvals and fund transfers involving the RM100 million government allocation for it a public document.

This is for transparency, accountability and checks and balances for all Malaysians including MPs in Parliament.

As Malaysians wait in anticipation for the budget announcement on Oct 29 by the finance minister, there is a growing concern if all of the 2021 allocations totalling RM322.5 billion had been spent wisely and did it indeed reach all target groups it was aiming for, or for reasons not made known, not used and returned to the government.

Truth Social could provide Trump with infusion of cash -- but critics are concerned about its content
[Image: donald-trump_hpMain_20211020-202320_16x9_992.jpg]

Truth Social, the social media app announced Wednesday by former President Donald Trump, could provide the former president with a substantial infusion of cash -- but critics also warn that it could create a new platform for the spread of misinformation.

The app will be the first product of Trump's new company, Trump Media and Technology Group, which is merging with the Nasdaq-listed Digital World Acquisition Group to form a publicly traded company, the former president announced.

The announcement comes at a time of turmoil for Trump's family business, with multiple branches of the Trump Organization currently under criminal investigation, sources previously told ABC News. On Wednesday, it was reported that the Westchester, New York, district attorney's office has had an ongoing criminal investigation into the Trump Organization's Westchester golf course; in July, the Manhattan DA charged the Trump Organization and its longtime CFO, Allen Weisselberg, with tax fraud; and New York Attorney General Letitia James has been conducting a parallel probe into Trump's business dealings.

Trump has denied all wrongdoing in the investigations, calling James' investigation and the investigation into his Westchester golf course a "witch hunt."

Revival of TSGP: do Sabah’s east coast districts need it?
Posted by: superadmin - 10-24-2021, 11:01 AM - Forum: Business. Economy and Investment - No Replies

SANDAKAN – As the government revives the Trans-Sabah Gas Pipeline (TSGP) project, which aims to distribute gas from the Kimanis district in the state’s west coast to the east coast districts of Sandakan and Tawau, a more important question is being raised – do the east coast districts need it?

The RM4 billion pipeline was slated to supply gas to Sandakan and Tawau, which would then be generated into electricity supply to districts in the area.

Currently, the electricity supply in Sabah’s east coast districts is generated from major power generators in the west coast.

About 10 years ago, people in Sandakan would not be too upset whenever there is a power cut as it happened so often – about once every two weeks. At that time, they had practically adapted to the situation.

For instance, in January 2014, when there was a problem with power generators in Sabah, the whole state was without power for a whole day.

The media reported the challenges faced by the people on that day, but there was an obvious difference between the people in Kota Kinabalu and those in Sandakan.
