Green wave puts tourism industry on red alert |

PETALING JAYA: Tourism industry players have a lot at stake in the Aug 12 state elections.
For them, a win by Perikatan Nasional (PN) in Penang, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan could lead to a decline in tourist arrivals, which is a major contributor to the nation’s gross domestic product (GDP).
In 2019, the year before travel restrictions were imposed in the war against Covid-19, Malaysia welcomed more than 26 million visitors who collectively spent RM86.14 billion in the country.
At the centre of the tourism industry’s worry is alcohol. The fear is that under a PN administration, there will be restrictions, if not a total ban, on the sale of alcoholic drinks.
Such restrictions would reduce Malaysia’s appeal as a holiday destination for foreign visitors, according to Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) president Christina Toh.

Anwar expresses confidence in PH holding 3 states, winning over 2 PAS strongholds |

PRIME Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is confident that Pakatan Harapan (PH) will retain the three states it governs and they have a chance to win two more states that are now under PAS.
However, he did not specify which are the two states where he sees PH with a good chance of winning from the PAS.
“Three states (under PH) are strong and stable. Last month, I mentioned that we could win another state. Now, I want to say that we can potentially win almost two more states,” he said during the announcement of PKR candidates for the state elections last night at the Shah Alam City Council Field in Section 7.
However, Anwar reminded the party’s leaders and machinery not to become complacent, even though some research firms appear to be favouring PH.
On the other hand, PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli said all party candidates selected to contest in the state elections will declare their assets to obtain the watikah (commitment letter) from the party.

Voters will remember unfulfilled promises of Dr Mahathir, Hadi: Rafizi |

GEORGE TOWN – Not all voters in the coming state elections are going to vote based on their emotions, said PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli.
Instead, such voters would have memories of how former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang were previously, especially when they were part of the Pakatan coalitions, said Rafizi.
Commenting on Dr Mahathir and Hadi joining forces and sharing the opposition Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) platform in Kota Baru, Kelantan last night where they declared that PN wants to win at least five states in the coming polls, Rafizi said voters can compare what both veterans have contributed to the well-being of the nation.
“What had they promised in the past? Surely, our leaders should have principles and not compromise too much of it. It is just because they dislike (current Prime Minister) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. At this (advanced) age, they continue to hate,” said Rafizi.

A Rebellion Has Begun – How PAS Provoked Malays To Rebel And Hate Sultan Selangor, And Will Pay The Price
![[Image: PAS-Kedah-Chief-Minister-Sanusi-Insults-...langor.jpg]](http://www.financetwitter.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/PAS-Kedah-Chief-Minister-Sanusi-Insults-Sultan-Selangor.jpg)
In a rare response to caretaker Kedah chief minister Muhammad Sanusi’s apology, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah appears to have rejected it when the Malay Ruler decreed that the issue is not over yet. It’s not rocket science that the sultan was incredibly upset and angry after Sanusi, the notorious loose cannon of PAS Islamist party, insulted the Selangor royal institution.
Exactly why was the sultan so mad and furious to the extent that he refuses to forgive the PAS warlord? In fact, the monarch had summoned Selangor PAS commissioner Ahmad Yunus Hairi and Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan to his palace to express his displeasure and anger. The sultan was mad not only at Sanusi’s insult, but also his defiance in the half-baked apology.
Sanusi’s sewer mouth saw him spewing insults on Sultan Sharafuddin during a recent “ceramah” (campaign speech) when he rudely questioned the monarch’s wisdom over his choice of Amirudin Shari as Selangor Chief Minister. Making a comparison between the Kedah and Selangor sultans, Sanusi said the Kedah ruler would not have appointed someone like Amirudin.
