PETALING JAYA: DAP today condemned a “violent” attack that resulted in a fire at the residence of Beruas MP Ngeh Koo Ham early this morning.
DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook said he was informed by Ngeh that the house was attacked with a Molotov cocktail.
“DAP strongly condemns this violent attack, which posed a threat to the lives of his family. We affirm that any form of violence is unacceptable in addressing differences within our society,” he said in a statement.

PETALING JAYA: PKR and DAP are said to be lobbying over maintaining a special committee under the Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (Mitra), recently placed under the unity ministry, and who should lead it.
According to sources, DAP wants it retained while PKR wants the committee, currently led by its Sungai Buloh MP, R Ramanan, dissolved.
One source said DAP did not want the committee disbanded as this would lead to deputy unity minister K Saraswathy, of PKR, being in total control of Mitra.

PETALING JAYA: A government backbencher and a political scientist have called for changes to be made so that the Dewan Rakyat can sit more frequently in the near future.
Currently, the number of days that the lower house is convened is left to the discretion of the prime minister.
In 2023, the Dewan Rakyat sat for a total of 74 days, including special sittings.
Subang MP Wong Chen said increasing the number of sitting days will make the government more accountable.
Ideally, he said, the house should sit for 80 days this year, with the number increased over the next two years to reach 100 days annually.

With less than 3 weeks before Sultan Ibrahim of Johor is scheduled to be sworn in as Malaysia’s 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong (King), the clock is ticking as more crooks are in the queue to be charged. At least two former Prime Ministers – Muhyiddin Yassin and Ismail Sabri – could potentially join fellow Najib Razak, the disgraced ex-premier currently serving 12 years jail for corrupti
Muhyiddin, the country’s first backdoor prime minister, has been slapped with four counts of corruptions and two counts of money laundering charges linked to RM600 billion Covid scandal during his 17-month illegitimate backdoor government (March 2020 – August 2021). Sabri’s spending of RM62 million to popularise his “Keluarga Malaysia” concept is under investigation, and he could soon be charged too.
On top of that, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is also investigating the dubious RM700 million allocation for publicity to promote the previous Muhyiddin and Ismail administrations between 2020 and 2022. While Muhyiddin had spent RM500 million, his successor “turtle egg” Sabri had used up about RM200 million. Chances are both had their hands in the cookie jar.
