Detractors chide Tun M for belittling Madani gov’t who’s re-building Malaysia from “the messes” he left behind

TWICE former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has come under fire for claiming that Malaysia is managed by popular people who do not have a clue or are incompetent in managing the country at the recent Nikkei Conference 2024 on the Future of Asia in Tokyo.

While his fans heap praises on him as “a legendary elderly statesman” for he is still “relevant and getting invitations to speak in the international arena” at his advanced age of 98, detractors seem to have other ideas of him.

One netizen lambasted him for the unending vengeance towards the unity government “till you’re willing to badmouth your own motherland just because you and your family are under MACC (Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission) probe” while another chastised him for “betraying the GE15 (15th General Election) mandate”.

This comes about after Malay Digest (@malaydigest) ran a one minute and 15 seconds video clip on the X platform of the nonagenarian commenting on the leadership of the Madani government at the recently concluded 29th Nikkei Forum (May 23-24) which is deemed to be one of the most important global conferences in Asia.
