‘Malaysian Malaysia’ not in violation of Federal Constitution, says DAP man

PETALING JAYA: A DAP leader has defended the “Malaysian Malaysia” slogan in the party’s constitution, saying it does not violate the Federal Constitution.

Sheikh Omar Ali, a member of DAP’s central executive committee, said the slogan should not be perceived as a threat to the diverse cultural and religious aspects of the country’s multiethnic society.

“There is no issue with ‘Malaysian Malaysia’ as that spirit aligns with the essence of the Federal Constitution,” he told FMT.

“Elements, such as (Malay) language, Malay privileges, religion and more are already explicitly provided in the Federal Constitution.”
