15 MPs Ready To Resign – But Here’re Problems With Mahathir & Daim’s Plan To Splash Billions To Topple PM Anwar
Unable to persuade UMNO president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to ditch 10th Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Opposition Perikatan Nasional had tried – and failed – to topple Zahid during the internal party election last month. With most of Zahid loyalists controlling the United Malays National Organization (UMNO), the Unity Government appears unshakable.
About a week ago, former PM Muhyiddin Yassin’s effort to unfreeze his party’s accounts in CIMB and Ambank was torpedoed when Bersatu (Malaysian United Indigenous Party) accounts have been seized entirely. The move to freeze the accounts on January 12 and 13 under Section 44 of anti-money laundering and anti-terrorism financing was only valid for 90 days.
However, effective April 11, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) confirmed that the frozen accounts have been seized. Following four counts of abuse of power and two counts of money laundering slapped on Muhyiddin on March 10, the Section 50 instead of Section 44 goes into effect. In short, Bersatu is screwed because it will not be able to access its money.

Zahid gives unwavering support to Anwar in the wake of dissent in Umno
THE political landscape in Malaysia seems to be constantly shifting, with rumours of power grabs and challenges to the current government.
The latest reports suggest that Perikatan Nasional (PN) is trying to convince several Barisan Nasional (BN) MPs to resign and contest by-elections, potentially leading to a new government with PN leader Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as prime minister.
However, in the wake of talks of dissent within UMNO, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has stated that BN will continue to support Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as prime minister.

Plot to topple govt: don’t entertain the deluded, says Anwar
PUTRAJAYA – Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim appears unfazed by purported plots by the opposition to dethrone the unity government, maintaining that the current administration is strong and united.
While acknowledging the existence of such schemes, the prime minister noted that the four main components of the government – Pakatan Harapan, Barisan Nasional (BN), Gabungan Parti Sarawak, and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah – remain committed to their duties towards the rakyat.
In this regard, Anwar said the public should not entertain individuals who are supposedly behind the alleged plots, describing them as “pengigau” (delusional).

Unity govt’s stability GPS’ priority, not politicking: Fadillah
KUCHING – Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) wants to continue to focus on the stability of the unity government in order to develop the economy and the people, as called upon by Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, who is also GPS chief whip, said the unity government is stable and strong, and this is proven through the support of 148 MPs and Budget 2023, which was passed in Parliament last month.
“For GPS, this (stability of the government) is our focus and not on politicking, because now is the time to develop and restore the economy for the sake of the people,” he told reporters after an Aidilfitri gathering organised by Persaudaraan Masjid, Bintangor dan Haji Taha here last night.
Fadillah was commenting on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s confidence that the unity government will remain intact until the next general election. – Bernama, May 6, 2023

‘Risk of royal wrath keeps coup plot in check’
PETALING JAYA: The risk of incurring royal wrath will hold back a group of Barisan Nasional MPs said to be involved in a plot with Perikatan Nasional to bring down the current government.
A Barisan Nasional leader, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the plotters would be wary following the Johor sultan’s remarks on the need to maintain political stability.

Topple plot: not even one BN lawmaker will resign, says Zahid
LENGGONG – Not a single Barisan Nasional (BN) MP will vacate their seat to attempt to destabilise and topple the unity government, said BN chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Zahid, who is also Umno president, said his own enquiries showed that rumours about BN lawmakers planning to resign their seats to force by-elections were untrue.
“I would like to stress here that BN remains committed to its cooperation with the unity government.
“Although I heard (rumours) that some wanted to destabilise the Madani government with 13, then 15 people, resigning, the fact is my own enquiries show that not even one will vacate their seat,” he said.
