Hadi: “Unlike UMNO, PAS will never work with DAP”

PAS will not be duped into moving away from its Islamic policies and orientation and will therefore never be able to work with DAP, unlike UMNO, according to party president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang.

“PAS cannot enter DAP’s ‘kitchen’ because of the presence of ‘non-halal food’. We cannot do so even if they change their ‘chef’, even if the ‘chef’ is Muslim,” Harakah Daily reported him as saying.

The Marang MP said this in response to DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang’s recent remark in which he expressed hope for UMNO to become stronger than both PAS and Bersatu in the future to ensure the success of the Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim-led administration.

In a statement on Monday (April 17) Lim said the only way for UMNO to return to its former glory was for the party to return to the principles of the Federal Constitution and Rukun Negara instead of seeking a pardon for their former leader Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Hadi Awang has selective memory, forgotten the Pakatan Rakyat heydays
[Image: Hadi-Awang-Poster.jpg]

IT IS amusing to note the statement by the PAS president Tan Sri Hadi Awang that even if DAP appoints a Muslim chef, the party would never enter into its kitchen.

Yet, Hadi conveniently forgets – perhaps due to his lapses in his memory – that between April 2008 and June 2015 when the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) coalition was still in existence, PAS had no problems in “entering DAP’s kitchen”.

At that time, it made no difference whether the chef was a Muslim or not.

The chief architect of the animosity between DAP and PAS is none other than Hadi himself. If the PAS spiritual leader, the Tok Guru Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat was around, the animosity between the two parties would not have taken place.

In the past, Hadi had accused DAP of being sympathetic to the now defunct Communist Party of Malaya (CPM). More than this, he had accused DAP of supporting the idea of bringing back the ashes of deceased CPM leader Chin Peng from Thailand.

Anthony Loke offers a two-liner for Hadi’s analogy of ‘haram’ to enter “DAP’s kitchen”

“If you are with them, everything is halal (permissible). If you are no longer with them, everything is haram (prohibitive).”

Such was the two-line comment rendered by DAP’S secretary-general Anthony Loke Siew Fook over the fiery remarks by PAS president Tan Sri Hadi Awang on the eve of Syawal that unlike UMNO, “PAS cannot step foot into DAP’s kitchen because of the presence of ‘non-halal food’, not even if they change their ‘chef’ to a Muslim ‘chef’”.

Taking cognisance that Hari Raya Aidilfitri is a season of forgiveness. the Transport Minister and Seremban MP holds no hard feelings when he ‘gentlemanly’ wished Hadi, his family and his PAS fellow members as well as Malaysians at large “Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri” on his Facebook page.
