KUALA LUMPUR: Pakatan Harapan has filed four police reports over several remarks it claims are slanderous against the government and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

Lodged by PH’s mobilisation bureau, the first report involved PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang’s cryptic comment of a football referee providing “extra time for the losing side” after the match was over.

His comment, a quotation from a column he wrote for the party organ Harakah, was interpreted as a reference to the formation of a unity federal government and drew angry responses on Twitter.

PH claimed the statement was in reference to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and that Hadi’s remark was tantamount to treason.

The second report involved several statements alleging that Anwar was backed by Israel to become prime minister, including a social media posting that was shared by a page called “Perikatan Nasional for Malaysia”.
