PETALING JAYA: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) chairman Abang Johari Openg says the coalition accepts the apology issued by DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook earlier today.
“We accept the apology with an open heart,” said the Sarawak premier in a statement.
At a press conference, he noted that the apology proves that “we were right all along”.
He added that GPS would abide by the decree issued by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, for a unity government to be established.
He also congratulated Pakatan Harapan chairman Anwar Ibrahim, who was just sworn in as the country’s 10th prime minister at Istana Negara.
Earlier today, Loke said he had a “friendly discussion” with Abang Johari and Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) president Dr Sim Kui Hian.
Loke also said he had apologised to the GPS leaders over past statements made by DAP that offended the Sarawak government and its people.
DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng has also apologised to Abang Johari and the GPS government for past remarks that might have offended them.
