GE15: Pakatan has enough to form simple majority: Anwar
SHAH ALAM – Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has claimed to have obtained the support of enough MPs to form the new government with a simple majority.
This follows a series of negotiations with leaders from other parties, the PKR president told a press conference.
Anwar said the coalition now has the necessary documents to prove it has the backing of enough MPs, which will be submitted to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong in due time.
“PH has formed the biggest bloc in the composition of Parliament with Muda. We have also realised the fact that no party has attained a simple majority.
"We have conducted a series of meetings and negotiations, and as a result, I wish to inform you that as a majority bloc, we have managed to get the support of MPs to form the government with a simple majority.”

GE15: Perikatan makes major inroads in polls
KUALA LUMPUR – Despite its lead party Bersatu losing members and MPs, Perikatan Nasional (PN) has made stunning inroads into Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) strongholds in the 15th general election.
With a current tally of 73 federal seats according to Bernama’s count, PN is neck and neck with PH, which currently has 78 seats. There are 222 parliamentary seats.
PN, with key components such as Bersatu and PAS, has swept all three parliamentary seats in Perlis, and with sizeable majorities. PN has likely been helped here by Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s decision to axe veteran incumbents as candidates.
In Arau, where ex-Umno warlord Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim contested on a PN ticket, his majority is 23,216. PN’s majorities in Padang Besar is 12,514 and in Kangar, 9,192.
At the state level, PN has also taken 14 state seats in Perlis, leaving just one – Indera Kayangan – to PH.

GE15: ‘Malay-centric, anti-graft messaging helped PN woo heartland’
KUALA LUMPUR – Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) unexpected victories in dozens of parliamentary seats may have turned some heads, but observers say it comes with little surprise as the coalition has been consistent in its Malay-centric and anti-corruption messaging.
Universiti Sains Malaysia’s (USM) Azmil Tayeb said throughout its 15th general election (GE15) campaign, PN had constantly promoted itself as the “cleanest” coalition as none of its candidates were facing corruption charges in court.
Azmil noted that PN’s campaign motto of “Prihatin, Bersih, dan Stabil” (“Attentive, Clean, and Stable”) government had proven to be effective among constituents who voted for the coalition.
“During their ceramah, PN will focus on being ‘bersih’ by saying BN is corrupt and that a vote for BN is a vote for (its president Datuk Seri Ahmad) Zahid Hamidi as prime minister,” Azmil – who was on the coalition’s campaign trail – told The Vibes when contacted earlier this morning.
