3,000 Liverpool fans expected at Champions League final screening party

PETALING JAYA: More than 3,000 Liverpool fans will be “partying” at the KL Gateway Mall when their club takes on Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final in Paris tonight.

A spokesman for the event organiser said all tickets for the event have been snapped up with fans coming from as far as Singapore, Sabah, and Sarawak.

Ridzal Ismail of MJ Event said despite the match being shown here at 3am (Sunday morning) Malaysian time, fans are still willing to come out and watch the final in such large numbers.

He believes it is because they have been deprived of match-day gatherings over the last two years as a result of the Covid-19 restrictions.

“This is going to be a gala event with a lucky draw and quiz sessions among others beginning at 10pm and going right through to 3am tomorrow when the match starts. We believe that Liverpool fans have been waiting for this moment hoping to see the giants lift a third trophy this season,” he told FMT.
