PETALING JAYA: DAP has closed the door on cooperation with Bersatu and PAS, with its chairman, Lim Guan Eng, stating he does not trust the two parties’ leaders.
Lim also said he did not want to meet Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin to discuss any form of cooperation as the former prime minister was one of the masterminds behind the Sheraton Move, which led to Pakatan Harapan losing federal power 22 months after winning the 14th general election.
“I won’t agree if he wants to meet. We were stabbed in the back, and we shouldn’t be fooled again,” Lim told Utusan Malaysia.
“It’s all right if we chat in Parliament, but to discuss working together, I don’t agree. I won’t accept it, the door is closed.”
Lim also claimed that Muhyiddin, when he was home minister during the PH government, “sabotaged” DAP by claiming its members were linked to the defunct Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), which Muhyiddin listed as a terrorist organisation.
DAP assemblymen P Gunasekaran and G Saminathan and 10 others were charged in October 2019 over alleged links to the Sri Lankan militant group. However, in February 2020, then-attorney-general Tommy Thomas exercised his powers as public prosecutor to discontinue proceedings against the 12.
“It was our own people or the deep state which betrayed us. Why did Muhyiddin say our people were linked to LTTE when the group didn’t even exist then?” said Lim.
The Bagan MP also said DAP does not trust PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang because he is always evasive and does not keep his word.

PH’s ‘big tent’ cannot include Bersatu, PAS, says Mat Sabu
PETALING JAYA: Amanah has joined its Pakatan Harapan partner DAP in urging the coalition against working with Bersatu and PAS in the coming general election (GE15) under its “big tent” approach.
While noting that the opposition needed to put up a united front in GE15, Amanah president Mohamad Sabu maintained that PH cannot work with Bersatu, PAS and even Umno.
He said there was no way that PH would work with “traitors” who betrayed the people’s mandate, referring to Bersatu and several former PKR leaders’ roles in the Sheraton Move and eventual toppling of the PH government.
However, the Kota Raja MP said PH should keep its door open to Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s Pejuang, the Shafie Apdal-led Warisan and Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman’s Muda, as these parties and leaders did not betray the people’s mandate.

Amanah, work with untrustworthy PAS? No way: Mahfuz
[/align
KUALA LUMPUR – Amanah vice-president Datuk Seri Mahfuz Omar said his party will not entertain any talk of cooperating with PAS, describing his former party as impossible to work with as they are untrustworthy.
He said the contents of a set of leaked meeting minutes, which allegedly outlined PAS’ preparations for the coming national polls, was proof that the Islamist party would readily discard their allies and switch allegiances if it fits their interests.
The alleged document, uploaded on the Malaysia Hot website on Monday, named PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan and vice-president Datuk Seri Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar as key operators who had engaged with top leaders of several political parties to discuss possible new alliances going into the general election, including with the opposition Pakatan Harapan (PH).
The document also outlined the alleged view of PAS leaders on the need to expedite the corruption cases against Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and his predecessor Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
Takiyuddin did not immediately respond to a request for comments. Samsuri has said the document was “rubbish” being circulated by irresponsible parties.
PAS is currently a member of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition led by Bersatu, and was a key support base for Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin during his short stint as prime minister.

Mat Sabu never said PH shouldn’t talk to Bersatu, PAS, says Salahuddin
PETALING JAYA: Amanah deputy president Salahuddin Ayub says party president Mohamad Sabu might have been misquoted when he cautioned Pakatan Harapan (PH) against working with Bersatu and PAS in the coming general election (GE15) under its “big tent” approach.
Speaking to FMT, Salahuddin, who yesterday opened the door to talks with Bersatu and PAS ahead of GE15, also downplayed DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng’s view that DAP would not work with Bersatu and PAS as they do not trust the leaders of the two parties.

PKR-Bersatu cooperation will come at a price, says Fahmi Fadzil
PETALING JAYA: PKR must be prepared to pay the price should it decide to work with Bersatu in the coming general election (GE15), its communications director, Fahmi Fadzil, said.
“In politics, nothing is impossible, but whatever decision we make comes at a price,” he said of PKR’s openness to working with non-Pakatan Harapan parties, including Bersatu.

PKR not helping PH by staying mum on working with others, says analyst
PETALING JAYA: PKR’s failure to state its position on cooperation with Bersatu could lead to a perception of disunity within Pakatan Harapan (PH), says an analyst.
Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) associate professor Anantha Raman Govindasamy said there was a growing feeling among PH supporters that the coalition cannot take a united stand on major political issues pertaining to elections.

Discuss teaming up with others internally, Loke tells Salahuddin
PETALING JAYA: DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook has urged Amanah deputy president Salahuddin Ayub to discuss his views on political cooperation with other parties within Pakatan Harapan and not through statements to the media.
This comes after Salahuddin kept the door open for Amanah to talk with Bersatu and PAS on working together in GE15, while downplaying DAP’s view that it would not work with the two Perikatan Nasional parties.
In a statement, Loke maintained that it was Salahuddin’s personal view and not a stand that was decided by PH’s presidential council.

PAS will never work with PH, says Hadi
PETALING JAYA: PAS will never work with Pakatan Harapan (PH), party president Abdul Hadi Awang said today.
He added that PAS had worked with the parties in the opposition coalition for a long time but no longer wished to cooperate with them.
“We will continue working with Perikatan Nasional (PN) and Umno, whose leader is the prime minister.
“We will work to strengthen these ties until the next general election (GE15),” he said at a press conference.

Pact with Bersatu, PAS will diminish PH
From Terence Netto
Amanah deputy chief Salahuddin Ayub became the third prominent Pakatan Harapan leader to scramble what appears to be an evolving Pakatan Harapan (PH) consensus: that it go into GE15 without any electoral understanding with perpetrators of the Sheraton Move.
PKR’s Anwar Ibrahim was the first major PH leader to cloud the evolving consensus when he disclosed some weeks ago that he had engaged Bersatu leader Muhyiddin Yassin in discussions of an unspecified nature.
Following this, Saifuddin Nasution, secretary-general of PKR, in remarks made while campaigning for the deputy presidency of the party, said PH should not rule out cooperation with any opposition party going into GE15.

Enough talk about working with others, Loke tells PH leaders
KUALA LUMPUR: Pakatan Harapan (PH) leaders have been reminded to refrain from weighing in on working with parties outside the opposition coalition, including Perikatan Nasional (PN), until the matter is brought up at the coalition’s presidential council.
DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook said restraint was needed to avoid confusing PH supporters, a majority of whom are against working with PN, especially Bersatu and PAS.
“We will not see the end of this polemic if we keep issuing such statements (about joining forces with PN),” he said.
“So my plea to PH leaders – if you wish to discuss strategy or propose who we should work with, discuss it at the presidential council and come to a consensus, instead of issuing statements that could be perceived as being conflicting and confusing our supporters,” he told reporters at a breaking of fast function here.
