Kisona fails to reach Swiss Open semis despite best effort

KUALA LUMPUR – National women’s singles shuttler S. Kisona failed to make it into the semi-finals of the Swiss Open after losing to world number 30 Supanida Katethong of Thailand 11-21, 12-21.

At the St. Jakobshalle arena in Basel today, Kisona struggled to get ahead of the Thai shuttler in the first set.

The second set seemed hopeful for the Malaysian shuttler, however Katethong maintained her control of the game and closed it out.

In the round of 16 yesterday, 64th-seed Kisona came from behind to defeat former world number one Saina Nehwal of India 17-21, 21-13, 21-13.
