PAS, Bersatu reaffirm pact for Johor polls

PETALING JAYA: PAS and Bersatu today announced that they will contest the Johor polls under the Perikatan Nasional (PN) banner.

The two main PN component parties issued a pledge announcing their renewed vow to work together.

The move also comes amid strained ties between PAS and Umno.

The one-page pledge was shared by PN chairman Muhyiddin Yassin’s aide with the press.

At a press conference later, Muhyiddin said the accord struck between PAS and Bersatu was historic as it determined the political direction both parties would be taking.

He said PN will use the same strategy as it did in Melaka in fielding candidates for the upcoming Johor polls.
