PETALING JAYA: Opposition members who continue to highlight Azam Baki’s shareholding are seeking truth and transparency, and not being unpatriotic as claimed by Bersatu deputy president Ahmad Faizal Azumu, say Pakatan Harapan MPs.

Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh said any reasonable person would question the Securities Commission’s findings and the explanation given by Azam, the head of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.

“Being unpatriotic by questioning the Azam Baki controversy isn’t the issue. It is called a controversy because the SC’s findings directly contradict Azam’s own explanation,” he told FMT.

He said Faizal had missed the point that the issue had to do with the integrity of the MACC and SC, and nothing to do with denting the morale of the civil service. “Leaders come and go, but the institutions must be defended at all times,” he said.

Petaling Jaya MP Maria Chin Abdullah was more blunt. “MPs are seeking the truth and asking for transparency,” she said.
